that can't possibly work all that well... should have just gotten a starion fmic or some shit. whatever, to each his own.
 
I agree, looks like a lot of time spent on a project that isn't going to work all that well. Should have just bought a spearco core and fabbed up some end-tanks for that. Probably about the same price too.
 
This is funny you guys don't even know. This car is here in Charlotte a FWD running 11.9 Before his new setup with 25G and SMI. And this CUSTOM FMIC was done years ago. And wasn't costly at all. 4 Saab SMIC. Now if you LOL and think you can out run this car... I want to see this and see you loose....my 02 cent

i dont remember anyone saying they could outrun the car.. do you? nope.. i just was saying how huge and cool it was..

its cool and all you stepped in to correct us on the fact that they aren't stock smic's but if you're gonna talk shit at least learn english dumbass.
 
All i'm saying is alot of people talk junk about other people setup and maybe they don't have a pot to piss in. Or have more and not doin what they are doing and they are hating. Not tryin to piont any fingers just tryin to make a piont. If a person have a full street car and not gutted and done 11's in a FWD. I'll give them pros.. On whatever setup they running

Alright... you're still talkin.. and still can barely speak decent english. I'm not even gonna say anything about punctuation or other such mechanics. Anyway, you said that setup was made from 4 Saab smic. So why're you saying they're stock? Maybe on the Saab, but not the car pictured above. You must gotten confused. Anyway, all i was saying is that you don't gotta jump in and start talking shit. The thread just started off as speculation. If the fmic was made from 4 stock dsm smic's then they guy would have been better off just getting a starion and it could have been done for the same price. However i don't know anything about Saabs or their intercoolers. Never said i did. So next time you wanna set someone straight, then at least do it in a respectable manner instead of jumping in a talking shit, and on top of it you still haven't stopped talking shit. Anyway, i'm done.
 
That has to kill spool up. It has to travel thru twice. But i bet it's a beast once they get rolling. I wouldn't want one but definately creative as hell.

So the final verdict is: Nice intercooler. Gotta respect custom work. If it was inexpensive, rock on! We see how it might cause problems with spool time. If it works well, more power to 'em.

What type of sheet metal could you use to make custom endtanks? Also, would MIG welding work well to do intercoolers?

Well, I know a little about that intercooler, since it is on my car.

First of all, why do people have to go around a judge people's idea's, when they don't have a clue what they are talking about.

The intercooler works great, saab cores where chosen because they are bar and plate, exactly like spearco. The flow up through two, and down through the other two, keeps pressure drop to a min. The inlet side of intercooler is warm, and outlet side is ice cold.

rubbersidedown, what makes you an intercooler expert, suggesting a starion front mount just shows how much you don't know. A starion couldn't do squat to cool my set up.

As for rocketboy, The intercooler and piping was done for less than you can get a comparable sized spearco core.

As for how well it works, I have run a traction limited 11.9@124mph spinning the slicks in third. FWD!!! No trick suspension or wheelie bars here.

To hell with innovation and expermintation, that would get us nowhere.
 
never said i was an expert. i only suggested a starion fmic in place of making a fmic out of four dsm stock smic. but didn't this thread die a long time ago? :(

:thumb: for innovation. What made you go with 4 rather than 3? I would think the pressure drop from 4 would be tough to overcome. Still, that's impressive work..
 
It doesn't suffer from pressure drop due to the fact that it that the air only has to travel through two cores at a time.
