how to use my MBC?

I bought my 1G wy a threaded MBC. I have it threaded all the way in b/c it has a little + one way and a little - the other way so I turned it to the - all the way. Sounds reasonable right? Well I'm cruising along and come up to an onramp, and reaquaint the gas pedal w/ the floor in 3rd gear. I get to about 4500rpms and about 16psi of boost ( not the factory 11 for sure ) and my clutch starts to slip. No doubt b/c of the extra power of boost ( Hi , my name is Groomz and I am addicted to boost... )
Does my MBC need to be threaded all the way out for minimum boost? Gonna test it today on the way to work.....

Yes, out is less boost and in is more.

I twisted mine all the way out and now I get more boost. Could mine be installed backwards? Would it work backwards?
