I've already read the vfaq and I've got a manual. I took the wheel off, disconnected the stabilizer bar, and took the nut off of the ball joint stud on the control arm but I can't get the control arm to drop down from the steering knuckle so I can pull the axel out. I've beat on the control arm and pryed on the stud but it just will not come loose. WTF.

im trying to replace an axel seal, and im running into the exact same prob. everytime ive had something with my tranny done theyve always used a fork wedge looking thing, i dont have one so here i sit all pissed off

I got it finally. Just take the whole damn control arm off. I still never got ball joint stud out of the steering knuckle though. Screw it the axle's out and now the engines out so it's all good.
