I know I know, this is a dsm site and I know alot of people don't like Honda, but.... I am going to have to sell my car. Why I have to sell my car isn't what I want to talk about:( I want to ask what your opinion of a 97 Honda Prelude 2 door Coupe is. Reliability, Mod-ability, Turbo worthyness, ..past experiences...etc. I think it is a sharp looking car. Have no fear I am no ricer. I refuse to contribute to the degredation of the Honda name. I love my dsm, but stuff like this happens and it is out of my hands. Thanks in advance for any constructive replies :D

i think it's a great car.... around $8000 should be your price.. and it's a honda so it's definitely reliable

yep that h22 stock has 200 horses and can be turboed really easy. thing is tho, even on forged internals you cant run anymore thatn like 6# pds of boost, and still pass emissions.

What other options have you considered? I don't want to sound like a slam, I'm just curious what in particular narrowed your search to the Prelude. What are your goals with the new car?

i'd say get it. i love preludes. one guy near me has a black 1999 prelude vtec. its all blacked out with black rims and a polished lip. oh its beautiful and damn quick too.

My friend had a 94' Prelude and loved it, he modded it a bit and said it was very fast. I like the look of them too, getting a Prelude has no down sides as far as I can see, gl on getting a good one.

Friend has a 96 prelude. Custom turbo kit, ran 12.6@115 on 91 octane pumpgas, bone stock motor, full leather interior, a/c, everything. Whoever said you can't run omre than 6psi is full of crap. Stock honda motors will take 10-12psi just fine, and run damn fast with that boost.

i used to have a 91 si with the H22 motor in it (yes we did a swap) and i loved it. 4 wheel stearing, 5 speed, and the H22. damn good motor for modding too. they respond really well to mods. good luck with it

I have considered getting another DSM, and am not completely ruling it out. I am going to college in the fall and would like to have something reliable but modable. My goals will be to keep it looking as stock as possible and turbocharge it [ running on forged internals ]. Wherever that leads me to is where I am headed I suppose. It is a little premature to know the goals of a car I don't own yet. I need to test drive a 5g though, I have only driven a 4g. Based on alot of people's responses the Prelude would be a nice choice with an engine that has alot of potential and a name that has reliability. I don't see alot of 5g Preludes either which tempts me to check it out. I am looking to spend about 8,000 on it so hopefully it won't take me over and above that. Thanks for the replies:D

I nearly bought a new one a few years back. Great cars, but froma performance standpoint they'll always be fwd and that's not the best platform for a performance car (sorry FWD guys, but it's true). They have tons of room inside for a coupe and of course they're built as solid as can be. Only thing I didn't dig is that most insurance companies classify them as a "sports car". Which I guess I can kinda sorta see, but it has nowhere near the performance of a real sports car like an RX-7, Supra, 996, et cetera.

Insurance ratings are based on LBS/HP. Anything lower than 15/1 is a sport car.
