hey. i wanted to know if i got a HKS SSQV BOV for a 91 Tsi AWD automatic, if i could still vent to the atmosphere? would if create the same effect that a manual would when shifting? thanks

Matt

why not? i mean i thought our cars only had problems with venting to atmosphere in between shifts, like when the clutch was puushed to the floor to shift adn to idle, and i want the sweet sound, this is a show car. if i cant do it with this BOV, can i do it with any others with my automatic?

thanks
Matt

Are you implying you have a 1 speed auto? No? So it shifts then? Hmmmmmm......

You can do whatever your lil heart desires :)

Any way you look at it, your gonna run rich venting on your stock MAS. Some cars run/respond better than others when venting and the only way to find out is to try. Any way you look at it, its not very healthy. Spend $250-$300 and buy a MAF Translator and run blow through setup, then you can vent all ya want :)

P.S. I have an HKS recirc. piece available for $30 shipped if your interested :thumb:

what i meant was that since the auto shifts faster that there wouldnt be any time in between shifts like a 5spd, at least not enough time for the revs to drop signifigantly. does an auto produce the same sound as a 5spd with the same BOV? and could you please show me where i can find a MAF translator or whatever ? and explain it more, please dont rag on me, i'm am just trying to learn more, i didn't have a chance to get a stick and this was my only option, at least its a turbo dsm, yes i'm trying to make it somewhat fast, but im mainly saving that for when i buy a stick

thanks
Matt

It does not matter. As long as the car has a gear change, as long as it idles, has to slow down, and has a throttle plate that shuts when the gas is depressed, then your gonna run rich. Your stock MAS is expecting that air to be recirc'd into your intake. When its not there, it dumps more fuel in to compensate because thats what it reads and thinks it needs. The MAFT replaces your stock MAS and allows the option for you to place the MAF on the upper innercooler pipe (UICP). When you place it on the UICP between the BOV and throttle body, the MAF is always sensing a draw of air, and no longer depends on that recirc'd air into the intake. The Translator itself is $199 at most places ( www.ramchargers.com and www.dsmparts.com to name a few) and you can find the MAF sensor itself for as cheap as $20-$30 on the net if you look around. But for gods sake, look into what else the MAFT will do for you (better flow, tunability, etc...) rather than JUST being able to vent.
