Hey guys, im not on here a lot anymore because im always busy. But the other day my water pump went out and then my radiator went out after that. Because the water pump broke it got antifreeze on my timing belt and broke it. so im pretty sure my head is gone. Correct?? wouldnt i have a bent valve at least?.. Also im going into my senior year of high school then into college and i need to be saving for college stuff and also to pay for my college. Is it worth it to spend the money to fix all of this. Also my car was making a rattling sound could that be because the water pump was bad?.... And my car is a 1995 n/t with about 145k miles. ive had lots of trouble with it like wiring and things like that and also could i get any money out of it? to buy a junky car to ride in for a little bit?

First of all are you planning on doing the work to it yourself? A mechanic wanted to charge me 1500 to fix my timing belt and bent valves and i ended up doing it myself.

If you do it yourself, you will save ALOT ofmoney. I would say $400 TOPS you would spend on the WP, headgasket set, and t-belt and head. You more than likely bent valves, probably all of them, so try to score a good used stock head and just gut the other one and save it to be ported later. :) Read up on how to pull the head. It's not too hard if you are mechanically inclined, trust me. Then try to also look for a good radiator in a junkyard off of another 2gnt or an Avenger. Correct me if I'm wrong on the Avenger part.

As for getting money out of it, if you are an honest seller, then probably not.

Yes i am doing most of it myself. Well im in school right now so my teacher is going to show me how to do the water pump and timing belt the radiator is simple. But i have another ?, will i tell a difference between the stock head and a stage one Stage 1 Head Porting Felpro Gasket Matching, PEP Stainless Steel Valves STD sizing, 3 Angle Valve Job, Crane Valve Springs, New Valve Seals, 100% Hot Tanked, Fully Pressure Checked, Fully Decked Head Surface. its $300 more but is it even worth it? If i could tell a difference i mise well do it. also is it worth it to get a aluminum radiator rather then a stock one? thanks for the help guys

What the... WTF

Where did you copy-and-paste that from?

How about you tell us your goals for the car, and we'll tell you what is most appropriate. To me, it doesn't sound like a high-performance head would be an ideal choice for someone who was just planning on getting rid of their whole car.

LOL ..I think the whole point of that emoticon is so you don't have to type the (what the).

How much will you be paying for that head is what i want to know. I mean if you are going to buy it from someone and get a great deal on it then why not.

Hey guys sorry. i got that from concept illusions $799 for the stage 1. I decided to keep my car. Right now i dont have money to turbo it or anything but in eventually i want to turbo it. As stock i know its not fast and really not capable of being fast without turbo. But could i tell a difference in a Stage 1 head? or just doing anything more than stock to the head? sorry if i dont make sense. Also would a aftermarket aluminum radiator be worth the extra $. any suggestions?

Get a Radiator Barn (http://www.radiatorbarn.com/) all-metal radiator. The aluminum ones are nice, and will help keep coolant temperatures super low, but the all metals ones (as opposed to the metal/plastic OE pieces) will do the job just fine (for a lot less money too).

The "stage 1" head sounds nice, and will head you in the right direction when you are ready for some more serious top end engine modifications. Since you plan on keeping the car and modifying it in the future, it all comes down to your resources. If you have the money and are certain that your car is something in which you want to invest all your resources, then buy the race head. If you're short on cash, get a stock head (not necessarily from CI); the modifications included in CI's "stage 1" head can be done whenever you're ready for them.

PS There are at least three ads for cylinder heads on 2GNT right now. I suggest you at least take a look over there and see what your options are.
