I'm really having a hard time figuiring this out.

So my car started idleing at about 2,000-3,000, its been doing it for about a month now.
I looked up on here and it said that it could be because my throttle body was dirty inside. I took it completely off, cleaned everything. The throttle body was very dirty so i figuired hmm it was dirty and not closing all the way. Which was correct, after cleaning it it did close all the way. Then I throw it back on with my "I just showed my DSM to be reliable" smirk.. I was wrong, now my car idles at 4,000-5,000.

The day before it started reaching the 4,000-5,000rpm range my power steering belt broke.. I replaced it the first day everything was fine the next morning it squeaked like NO OTHER its pretty embarrasing. Also the idle is very high making the car sound even worse at a stop with the obnoxious engine revving and the loud squeaky belt. I tried loosening the belt.. Someone said the belt could be too tight.. I tried loosening it. No luck.
I noticed if I leave the car running and push the part of the Throttle Body that the metal wiring hooks up to DOWN then the idle goes to 1500RPM

*I also think the squeaking is coming from the tensioner pully not so much the belt.

what should I do? I really need help.

I also have the CEL that states.. P1294 - Injector Highside Open - Bank 2 / Target idle not reached.

Well it kind of sounds like your TB is stuck open, and that the throttle cable is a little tight.

I think you just might have put the TB back on wrong. Check all vacume lines leading to the Intake mainfold and make sure there are no holes in them or that there isn't a hose that is just hanging loose somewhere.

As for your squeeling belts, Better tighten that tensionor, and maybe, just maybe its about time for that timing belt change if you don't know when that last time it has been done.

As for the CEL light, I can't tell you too much of what to do, but it definately has to do with your throttle problem.

Well about the belt squeal, I wouldn't assume it's the pulley since the squeal presented itself after you replaced the belt. Check the tension you set for the belt, there should be no more than 1/2" play either way.

As for the throttle body, I don't see how there could be so much gunk built up that it wouldn't allow it to close, but you say you cleaned it, and it then closed. Your IAC(Idle Air Control) motor could be shot. They tend to wear out and eventually fail overtime. Clean it with carb cleaner. It's located on the back of the throttle body, your throttle position sensor is on top, and IAC motor is underneath. When inspecting it, make sure the wires for it didn't come in contact with your EGR tube. It's the metal tube that runs along the right side of the head, under the intake and bolts to the back of the intake manifold. That pipe will eat through a wire like nothing, as it gets hot from unburned gasses passing through it.

As for the code, I'm sure it has to do with your high idle. Which again leads to most likely the IAC.

My question is when you took your throttlle body off to clean it did you change the gasket or try to reuse the old one?

I can't say it was the original cause of the high reving at idle, but if u tried to reuse the gasket i can guarantee its the reason the idle got even worse. If your TB gasket is leaking its going to let air in the chamber and the computer is going to compensate by adding fuel.

I tried to to reuse a TB gasket before 1 time same thing happened to me.
Start simple and change the gasket is my suggestion.

I would suggest that u try and tighten the belt and if that doesn't work definately check your pulleys they could be worn out as dsmcrazy mentioned.

Your CEL is saying "Target idle not reached." Target idle is 900rpm +/- 100rpm. If you're idling that high, you will get that code. No worries.

Next, be sure you have a good gasket in there. I used anaerobic sealant on mine when I put the engine back together, but even a homemade gasket with the cut-it-out stuff is better than reusing the stocker.

When you said you could reduce the idle by pressing on the end of the shaft, it got me thinking that it could be that the seal around the shaft is worn out. They have been known to wear out and leak, but the first thing I would suggest you do is this:

With the engine off, take your trusty 10mm ratchet to the two bolts that hold the throttle cable to the intake manifold. Break them loose, but not very loose. Then start the car (without giving it any gas). Get out of the car and see if applying more or less tension on the throttle cable, by pulling it away from the TB or pushing it towards the TB, makes any difference.

This is one of the ways we adjust the throttle plate. If it doesn't help, you can pop out the little cap on the backside of the arm that the throttle stops against on the outside of the TB. Behind it is a set screw that can be tightened down to open the plate or backed out to close it, but this only goes so far. It's best to try the cable first.
