ok here it is problem
1. the balance shaft when i called a repair shop they told me they would just have to rebuild engine because high miles 124k is high miles? obviously he didnt see my crx with 227k running strong o ya and same years but i saw some person and they said they took out there balance shaft i was like um ok but im looking for a cheaper way to ifx it than rather spend like 1500 on a rebuild or new engine because it vibrates bad when over like 3500 rpm's

2. i got a nasty oil leak its all underneath its comeing from timeing belt side i was wondering where it could be cause i cant find it just see it leaking down and o ya 1 more question if theres oil in spark plug place under cover does that mean i need a valve cover gasket?

please elp me out i want my dsm out there running top and killing those slow hondas :p even know i ahd a crx that ebat talon non turbos but anyways please help me

124k for a dsm is high miles. thats the milage when i replaced my entire engine. and hondas last w whole lot longer than our dsms. i would recommend a brand new engine or a total rebuild

You need to visit the VFAQs
I don't consider 124k to be very high. I have 111k on mine and it still runs great but I've stayed on top of maintaining it. Lot's of 1G's have far greater miles and running strong.

There are lots of places for oil to leak. What most people do is clean their engine and then watch to see where it's coming from. I does sound line your valve cover gaskets or the oil filler cap gasket are leaking if you have oil in the plug well. The Engine VFAQs catagory has links for both the balance shaft and the valve cover gaskets. There are also several oil seals on the front side of the engine that could be leaking. If you haven't done your 120k timing belt yet, I'd have all of the seals replaced along with your water pump when you do the belt.

It's also possible that your upper balance shaft belt is gone (broken). Just having the lower balance shaft spinning can cause engine vibrations.
