ok, i dont want the little glue on piece, i want the whole pillar piece, and i cant decide between 2 or 3 gauges and what i was wondering was if i was to get three, would i even be able to see the very top gauge clearly or would it be too high??? if anyone has pictures that would be GREAT..also, where do i find these pods??? i have been searching on google.com and cant find any:(

Thanks:dsm:

...so did u decide what 2 do...? also did u ever get around to getting that wideband hooked up, or the egt probe? i wish i were there!!! LOL

i like oil pressure, boost, and wide band. go with 3. if you get 2 now, you'll be wondering where to put the 3rd gauge you'll get down the road.

And another +1 on the glowshift gauges and pods. Both triple, double, or cluster, tried and installed them all. They all fit perfect. But actually so do the ebay ones, so go for the cheapest one you find. they all seemed to be made from the same factory somewhere in China.

Amazing how not so long ago, the glowshift gauges were just an ebay brand and seller and no one wanted to touch them, now they are becoming a household name..

I have the 3 pod setup. The bottom gauge sits about 1/4 inch off of the dash (just enough to smear some armor all under there). The gauges obstruct your view about 1" more than a stock pillar would (pertrude into the windshield.) I autocross, but haven't been since installing the pod. I would imagine it would be a bit of a downgrade as far as view, but nothing really to be worried about. So far I can't really complain about the view, and having the gauges molded right into the pillar looks very clean. See pic below.

I purchase this same cluster setup and it does not line up with the bolt holes and also the gauges hit the clear plastic on the origional gauge cluster. Did you have this problem and did you have to cut out for the gauge s to fit in the clear plastic? Thanks,

I have the cluster pod one of my DSMs, the holes on them match the stock ones. Didn't have a problem installing them. They aren't a perfect fit, but it fit well enough. These ones are the glowshift ones.

As for the gauge hitting, that all depends on the gauge you are using. Using this gauge pod requires you check the mounting depth of your gauge. Glowshift and most other mechanical boost gauges fit fine.
The oil pressure gauges though vary. The glowshifts are not a perfect fit, the depth is a bit longer and will hit and will not be flushed with the pod. Yes it makes you feel incomplete inside knowing it looks ghetto and half-assed installed.

You can try to fight this feeling, but ultimately you cannot. To help, install the gauge visor that glowshift includes with the gauges to act like a spacer. If your gauge does not come with these, make something to act like a spacer. Usually it's not even half an inch that you need to cover.

Or you can go the extremes and cut a hole right in the cluster for the gauge to pass through, yes someone did this.

Not meaning to necropost but how do the pillar pods install? Do they install over the factory plastic or are they a replacement for the plastic? I've seen ones that install by double sided sticky tape or just screw into the factory pillar plastic, I want one that replaces the factory plastic. I definitely don't want one that's held on by tape... I'm just looking for something clean and factory looking.

I have a great idea for you- something I've done. I don't have pictures because all my awesome work was stolen, but here it is-
I went to Home Depot and bought some small track lights, but they weren't necessarily track lights because instead of the track they had a thread/nut end. They were just barely larger than the standard 2 1/16" gauge. I took all the lighting weirdness out of the body. The arm on the light body had two joints and fully rotated and the tightness could be adjusted with some screws, and I really liked this because I could adjust the positioning of my gauges if I wanted. I painted these gray to match my A-pillar after cutting off the part of the light housing- it had a weird flange. Anyway, these bolted into my pillar with the threaded end, and all the gauge wires ran through the arm, except my boost gauge had to have the air line running out of a hole in the back. This was by far the cleanest and most practical looking gauge setup I have ever seen. Sadly, some jerk-ass broke into my car and stole the whole setup because it looked so awesome. The only problem with the whole thing was that it was slightly heavier, so I had to add reinforcement to the stock a-pillar plastic to hold it in place well. It was a lot of fun to do, but I ended up just going with the pods in the gauge bezel thing that some of these people have because to do all that work again was too much and I was still mourning my loss.

Triple FTW :thumb:. Mind you, this is a little offset to the left to better see them. You actually get pretty good visibility with them there.

I also have triple gauge pillar. I had it mounted with three screws to the stock plastic. The piece was designed to mount this way (according to the directions) but I found it fit MUCH better (tighter and cleaner) with it screwed directly into the metal of the a-pillar. I couldn't get the piece to cover the old plastic cover completely while fitting against the windshield tightly.

I had a triple pillar & the dual instrument cluster bezel. They were both Autometer & fitment & colour match were great. The triple pod just attached to the stocker by drilling a few holes & using those oneway plastic plugs that you see on many different things on vehicles nowadays.

I just removed the tripple pod for this year. It was abit of a blind spot but didn't seem to have a problem with it & all 3 gauges were pretty easy to see. Just attracted attention from cops (just depends on what area you live in as to if you get hassled or not) sometimes & even no there's absolutly nothing illegal about having aftermarket gauges here, they'd still question me. I just can't be bothered with the BS, so I went back to an OEM pillar & kept the 2 gauge bezel. Defi use to make a series of gauges that matched our interior 100% & even the correct lightning (wish I picked them up before they were discontinued) but I picked up the Defi White racer. So black background with red pointer & dial is illuminated white LEDS. So matches in the daytime but not at night. I figure I'll eventually swap the dash to LEDs when I have nothing better to do, then I'll match 100% :thumb:

I've got the Lotek dual pillar pod and love it. It completely replaces the stock pillar and fits nicely. I just have a boost and A/F gauge (A/F is not hooked up, just a filler). I have no complaints.
