Hello! Just introducing myself here. I recently picked up my first Eclipse and it happens to be a GST. I purchased it from a friend who doesn't really know much about it other than its a 6 bolt bottom and a 7 bolt top. Currently doesn't run. I am getting ready to pull the engine as it needs a new crankshaft seal and probably a new timing belt sadly as it's an expensive timing belt, but it's covered in oil because of the seal failure. I have owned a couple evos, so I am not 100% new to a 4g63, but still have a lot to learn. Hoping to meet some new people and learn some new things.

Hello from up north. Looks like you have a fun project on your hands. That looks like a gates kevlar belt, which isn't terribly priced- but sucks that it got oil soaked as it looks fairly new.

Also, ah, am I the only one who gets nervous when there is no timing belt covers

can't wait to see you revive her- does it have an aftermarket turbo??

Kevlar belts are fairly resistant to oil, the belt looks great on top, you may want to reconsider replacing the belt if it cleans up well and has lower mileage.

Right now it just has a stock turbo. The timing cover is off because the previous owner attempted a repair to the crank seal and gave up. I bought a new HKS clear timing cover. Also if you look there are no drive belts and no radiator fan. I have a brand new Mishimoto 3 core radiator with the mishimoto radiator fans and shroud kit ready to throw on it as well as soon as I get the engine pulled and the new crank seal put in it. After it all goes back together and runs well, I will most likely be upgrading the turbo. :D
