Is it bad to take the heat shield off, and just run with the e. manifold showing? I like the look of the manifold, but it would do nothing to the hood or anything like that would it?:dsm:

So you'd rather isolate all that heat onto one small spot? Doesn't make much sense.

I have had mine off for a while with no problems but i know its not good for your electrical stuff after a while so i'm going to wrap the manifold and put my heatshield back on soon, might even get a little more efficient exaust flow with the header wrap. I also just got done polishing my headshield so it looks way better now.

Odd, those umpity-buck engineers seemed to think so, and the many un-"improved" 200K+ DSMs are happy enough with it. I guess if you think it's a better idea to glow that heat onto your radiator top tank, you could be right. I just thought it was called a heat SHIELD for some reason or other, instead of a heat ISOLATOR or CONCENTRATOR or BROADCASTER.

Up to you, my apologies for offering to help out.

i have personally seen melted fans from running without a heat shield, the heat needs to stay in the exhaust manifold,do you think having significantly higher intake temperatures helps your cars performance, like Defiant said, the engineers know what they are doing.. thats why they make 6 figures. the engine bays in our cars run too hot as it is,you need to do everything you possibly can to keep the heat down (i.e. keep your heat shield on the manifold.)

they glow pretty colors.
I would tell you to leave it on since it's prolly there for a reason.
