i was wondering if i Port and polish and get a valve job on my head and then i put hks cams in it would i need to do ne thing else to strenghten the head or will i be able to keep the stock springs and what not :talon:

What are youre mods? Odds are if you have to ask if you need something, you dont really need a ported head. Spend that money on a SMIM and a valve job just to "freshen up" the head.

You dont have to upgrade internals on cams, but if you have like 150k miles I would suggest getting some new stuff based on things just being worn out.

well the motor was rebuilt about 5 grand ago and im gettin a fmic SBR g50 maf/t hks and magnus intake and i am gettin the head ported and my compressio nis 207 207 211 212
but im also gettin a vavle job done on it but i dont want to get it ported SOO much to were i have to replace the retainers and springs or is that a MUST do when upgrading to Bigger cams?

Spend the $300 for the springs and retainers... It's cheaper to do that then to have a old OEM spring break and take out a piston and possibly your head with it... I personally think that since you ported your head you are wanting to rev higher cause you will see most your gains on a ported head in the upper RPM range.... With the bigger Cams putting more stress on the stock springs and the higher rievving you are asking for trouble... I think the head is a PITA... It's a $1K ordeal... You can't really do it in steps cause it's a pain to kept pulling it and replacing your Head Gasket so you want to get Valves, Springs, And any Port work done at the same time...

And I would also add a cometic hg to this also so you can take advantage of the capabilities of the new 50 trim without the worries of blowing the stock hg.

I would definately reccomend doing the springs and retainers with the cams. I didnt get springs when I first put the cams in but quickly realized I should have when all of a sudden, 8k rpm's comes alot faster than it used to. Larger turbo, ported head, larger cams, and free flowing intake will definately move the power band up in the rpm range.
