i put a post up here a few weeks ago on a modified 420a. i had problems with the valves, well it turns out my crower camshafts were messed up. my shop bill has come out to $1200 because they had to go through everything and rebuild the head i feel its not my fault. crower is sending out new cams but im not sure what i should do. has anyone had this problem?

BC gets a bad name because back in the day they're cheap and every kid ran them. When you have a bunch of idiots just slapping on parts, things will break and companies will be blamed.

The OP is talking about Crower, not Brian Crower. Two different companies.

Maybe you should explain why you think the Crower cams were "bad".
Indeed. OP, you should clarify the problem otherwise no one will be able to tell you whether or not they've gone through something similar. What "problems" were you having with the valves and how were the cams "bad"?

if u seen my other post you would understand. my other post says modified engine troubles need help!!! i put that up on 12-25-11. they are crower not brian crower. anyway crower confirmed my cams were messed up so im asking if anyone else has had this problem because i have a $1200 shop bill due to defective camshafts. the base of the lobes were suppost to be like 1.80 well its like 1.84 1.83 1.85 on the base. so it was holding my valves open in the first and second cylinder but the other two cylinders were fine. my machince shop had to look at everything else before they could say the cams were bad. i just feel its not my fault for this bill. im stuck on what i should do. so any positive feedback would be great. right now im sending back my cams for new ones. but my shop isnt done and they have to put it all back together still.

Certainly an unusual problem that I haven't seen or heard of yet with the Crower's (maybe Dave ground those down ). There have been problems with Neon cams being sent out as Eclipse cams, but I haven't heard of your problem.

Unfortunately, Crower is only technically responsible for replacement of the bad parts that they sold. Now you could explain your situation (or threaten etc.) and try to get them to make good faith restitution, but if you look through the purchase agreement you would find somewhere in there that they are only responsible for replacement of their defective part (at no cost to you).

i wasn't trying to talk down on crower they are a really good company. i just had an issue with my parts thats all.
Nope, don't believe that it was taken that way by anybody here. ALL companies have problems, its the amount and how they deal with them that's important.

Thanks for posting up the clarification by Crower for future searchers :thumb:

As with all Car components its a good habit (and some companies put in an agreement the consumers responsibility) to double check all measurements. Crower is a great company, but no company on this planet has 100% QC, bad parts can always slip through the cracks, especially when you think that your cams where off about +/-.01 . To give you some perspective, the average human hair measures .003, so 3 hairs stacked on each other equals the error in there grind. Kind of puts things in perspective how sensitive some car parts can be, and scares you when people cheap out with OBX quality parts, or even more, gives an engine builder more reason to double check all part measurements before just slapping something in to avoid a heft tear down and rebuild bill.
