I've got a problem where when I downshift into second at any speed above 10mph or so it grinds, no matter how slow and soft I try to do it, it still grinds. Now I've had grinding problems with second gear in my old DSM, but only on the upshift (1st to 2nd), this one shifts perfectly smoothly when upshifting into any gear. So what would cause it to ONLY grind when downshifting into second?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Ok, can you explain double-clutching. I've got a general idea of what it is, but would like to hear a detailed step-by-step explanation if ya don't mind. I've never actually tried to do it. Thanks!

Nevermind, I looked it up, it's exactly what I thought it was, I just never tried it before. I'm a little slow with the rev-matching now, but as I do it more and more I'll probably get better. It works great too, as long as I match the revs with the speed it doesn't grind at all! Thanks Defiant! :thumb:

You won't even realize you do it after a few months. And you'll never go back because of how it feels.

Get some Pennzoil Synchromesh, too.

Oh, and thanks for doing the search.
