got to drive a prelude with a T60 yesterday.....

yesterday when i was downstairs working on mine and my roommates DSM's our friend drove up in a red 97 up prelude. this kid already has an integra with a 57 trim and some nice goodies (still only runs a 13.9 though) anyways he said one of his friends dropped the prelude off for him to tune. it was pretty nice looking and the turbo was beautiful. 4 inch inlet T60. i had to drive it. i must say it did still drive like a honda - weak shifter, super light clutch, and a gas pedal that hit the floor with no effort. but the turbo was nice. it spooled up hard (6psi) and broke the tires loose immediately. when it's tuned right it should be a pretty quick car. my friend estimated that it'll be about the same as his integra power wise (275 HP). oh well i'll stick with my big 16g powered talon though.

Thats a pretty rediculous sized turbo to put on a 4cyl only running 6lbs of boost.

thats what i'm saying.. i see these n/a cars who put turbo kits on.. and the turbos are HUGE.. but they only boost no more than 10psi on it.. WTF? why? why not just get a t25 or something.. and give those big turbos to cars that will make the most use out of it? :confused:
 
i agree, why get a huge ass turbo, and only run less then 10 psi ? ill just post my t25 for sale on a honda forum then. what a waste of money, all that money they poor in to make it work. hahahaaa we will spend less then half of that and still own them. i still say if it wasnt meant to be turobed, leave it be. unless you got the money to throw around, it aint worth it.:dsm:

I've heard it is more efficient or better in someway to run a large turbo with low boost as opposed to strapping a t-25 and running a much higher boost level on your honda (or whatever) engine.
So I've heard.

I don't know about that. Running a huge turbo at low boost, your not even going to get into the turbos efficiency range. Unlike running a small turbo. Plus, all that boost lag to only hit 6 psi. :confused:
 
dude people do that shit all the time, theres a guy in town with a 50 trim t4 on his 97 accord, running 15.1's :rolleyes:, cause he can only run like 5 lbs of boost.

He was bitchin at the track yesterday, hes like my car hits full boost at 2500 rpm's, and he said hes like "your turbo is smaller and doesent even do that", im like your an idiot, your only running 5 lbs of boost, thats what all those stupid ass turbo kits come with "t3/t4" but dont run them at more than 7lbs or youll blow the ####er up, too bad a t25 would prorobly run better than a t4 at 5 lbs of boost.

A fact some may forget is that they have N/A cars have highger compression stock than if they were turbo. So they may have 9.6, 10 or even 10.5 to 1 compression compared to our 7.8 or 8.5 allwowing them to run less boost and create more powwer.

It's just a thought.

Seriously, it doesn't work that way. At 5 psi a big turbo is in a very inefficient part of it's flow map. Look at what Mazda did when they turboed their Protege. It uses the stock engine, stock compression, only 8 psi, and they chose a T25! I thought that was a smart choice, because we all know the T25 is good for about 15 psi, so there is alot of room for upgrades before the turbo maxes out.
 
You must mean a T3/T4... I find it hard to believe that a T60 pushing 6psi would only create 275whp. The Greddy kit for the H22 without the intercooler and pushing 6psi makes 255-260whp. A T60 at the same psi with an intercooler would most likely push well over 300whp, and that's if the block and pistons hold up. I don't know, I'm probably wrong, but I'm throwing the BS flag anyway.
