Im looking to get some good headers but cheap. I am running the stock turbo still in a 96 talon tsi awd

Fast cheap reliable. You only get to pick 2.as far as a new exhaust manifold goes FP cast mani is nice.

"Headers" are tubular and found on naturally aspirated engines.

What you are looking for is an exhaust manifold.

That said, unless you plan on running a t3/t4 turbo, don't waste your money on a new one. People make a lot of power on stock unit. But.. If you are hell bent on buying upgrades you wont fully utilize the fp mani is a great choice.

PR has a t3 mani that sells for about $300. Its the cheaper version of their top notch one. I would say its worth it. has a 1yr warranty and a wastegate provision. If you want to stay dsm flanged, then a 2g mani, some carbide bits and a die grinder will get you all the flow you need. If you dont like porting and dont mind buying an extra heat shield then buy the FP dsm mani. Its tried and true.

I would go with the 2g mani though. my .02

Port the stocker. Why waste money on something that will be nothing more than a paper weight in a year after it cracks?

Its pretty common practice. The 2g manifolds have much more meat then the 1g mani's, and the ports are larger to begin with.

I've ran a ported 2g mani on 4 dsm's and never had one crack. Several of my friends have or are running ported 2g mani's now.

There is enough meat there to port/gasket match them and not have to worry about cracking anymore then you would with a stock one. Mostly what people mean when they say port is to gasket match the flanges and clean up the collector anyway.

And if you have the bits it doesnt cost anything, so there is no "wasting money" on anything here.

I was recommending he port the stock manifold (2g) that is already on his car. A GSP, CX Racing, SSAC, etc. manifold is what I advised against, since it will crack and become table art.

Ahh, post #6 really came across as if you were advising against porting the stocker because it would crack. Guess i read that wrong.
