I got all 4 fender wells done and painted matte black. I'm pleased with how it turned out so far. I still have to finish the under carriage. I would never do this again or recommend doing this until you are on the very last desperation of removing weight. The time and labor it takes to remove this is just ridiculous I may have 10lbs total I'm just not sure. 20190716_180636.jpg 20190716_180705.jpg 20190716_180741.jpg 20190716_180758.jpg

Thank you. I am trying my best to get the car prepped for the 8.5 cage. I will get started on that next weekend. The cage will weigh roughly 120lbs plus the chute and mount on top of that. Trying to drop all the weight I can for nothing more than elbow grease. I still have the heater and everything under the dash I'm sure that weighs a decent amount. I removed the sway bars, end links, finally swapped my manual rack in, undercoating, full rear seats and all plastic behind the drivers seat. It has been so hot here though averaging a real feel of 115 plus this entire week and no ac in the garage. I'm just going to keep pushing and hopefully September/October time frame I'll make it to the track. You guys on tuners are getting more information than facebook. I just don't care for social media and at least here people can reference in the future for any information that may be useful for them. Stay tuned though because I have another surprise I am about to reveal!

It was just one of those decisions I had to make and pull the trigger to get the cage done now. I will dig into the transmission I'm thinking Saturday or Sunday. Pulled the pan and it was clean as a whistle, trans fluid looked great too. I sent my converter off to Sinister to be inspected as a precautionary measure since I won't be racing anytime soon.

No they are OEM 5spd ones, 17mm and just about perfect when using Kigglys flex plate.

Awesome build thread, I love seeing these threads!

Interesting you went from the E3 to the V4 as I've debated doing the same and changing classes. I run the E3 with K264's and we couldn't get the boost to go over 37 psi on the dyno, not sure if it maxing the turbo (DSM76) or reaching the flow limit of the 264s/E3 or stock flanges exhaust housing. Seeing that type of power increase has me debating the 264 to 272 swap or a swap to the V4.

Keep the updates going and put some numbers up!

I'm sure you have maxed the turbo out at 37psi. Adding the intake manifold would probably give a little in the upper rpm range with that turbo. In my opinion I would upgrade the turbo to the FP black if your searching for more power dollar vs dollar black vs v4 the turbo is going to give you way more. The auto has been a huge learning curve compared to manual. It is all about making the setup work together. Dupey ran 8s on a gt35r fp turbo/e3 mani and Noonen just ran 8s on a fp black. Both of them run 272 cams. I made 600 to the wheels on k272s and e3 mani. I think the reason I picked up so much was because the 67mm compressor wheel flows so much air compared to something smaller. I've seen guys swap to bigger cams and go slower. It's just a process of elimination really but you can't go wrong with the bolt on fp black.

The problem with the black is I can’t go over a 61.5mm inducer or else I can’t race in the stock appearing class. I built the car to compete in that class so I am limited in turbo selections. I am trying to find the DSM82 as it is a 59mm that flows 70 lbs/min .

But I don’t want to hijack your thread man! Keep us updated on all the work!

Well I finally got a 9 second pass. First pass was a 10.6 made some adjustment to the stall and the rest is history. Very happy to have finally reached this milestone. received_220416195519595.jpeg

I've been so busy I haven't had much time to post anything. Been to the track a few more times backing up those 9's consistently. Last outting I ran consistent 1.43s with crap track prep. I seen Volk Metal Craft was looking for a test subject on a modified rear trailing arm. I sent him the email and I ended up being picked as a tester. Shaves 10lbs and I will be able to take the wheel spacers off when I have the slicks on so win win. I also made my own ram air intake. I haven't had a chance to test it yet because I need my trailing arms back but for $38 in materials if it gains anything I look at it as a win. The past 3 months I have reached out to EVERYONE to get a front subframe built but no one was willing. I finally found someone and I picked it up last week. Once I get it on the car, aligned do some street driving and make some 140mph passes to make sure it's good I'll announce more on it. My 9.53 or faster is within reach and I plan on getting my goal very soon. received_505520133357805.jpeg received_364646331146514.jpeg received_2507010572693452.jpeg received_777054002725566.jpeg

I hit all the big names first but no one wanted to make any. I did see one guy I think down in Florida working on a design/testing. I told this fabricator what I wanted and the cars purpose is mainly straight line drags with the occasional sunday cruise. I think alot of people expect these tubular subframes to be super light and more rigid than a factory one. In reality majority are built for one purpose weight reduction and as long as it holds strong i.e doesn't flex for my 1/4 mile passes then to me it's a well built piece for my application. I took the sway bars off a few months back, north and south bars have been off for like 5 years now definitely have no intent on doing any road course stuff.
