I don't want to confuse anyone the main reason for taking it was to 1. Make sure the rings are seated nice and good and 2. Make sure it has a nice conservative tune so I can enjoy the car. I didn't get a picture of dyno graph. Thanks for all the support guys very much appreciated. Now it's onto tackling this wiring ratnest.

At first yes it will be turned down to wastegate pressure. I still haven't hooked up the nitrous to the series 2 to even get my launch tune. That is first on the checklist. My main focus will be dialing in the 60ft to at least consistent 1.4s then I will start turning it up. My best 60ft was on my 10.1 run with a lousy 1.63 I mean that's garbage. This was 2 years ago on the open t3 housing. IFO will be local to me next Sunday but the Military has some crazy hours and I don't think I'll try and push hard to make that one. I will definitely be doing some test and tunes in the future though.

I made a little progress on the car. Mechanically it's buttoned up and ready to go. New air intake setup went together nicely figured I would give the Whalen speed air filter a try. I really like the foam element and it's a UNI filter which is all I used on my dirt bikes when I used to race many many years ago. I got a chance to install the new kirkey seat, g force 5 point harness and almost have the new carpet trimmed to install the panels. The last thing will be cleaning up the wiring. I may have a chance to run in June but most likely you won't see any updates until mid August at the earliest due to my profession. I'm hoping my patience and attention to detail this go around allows me to run the times the car is 100% capable of.

I owe you guys an update. I did post something then deleted it because I wanted to hit the track and have great results to post. As my journey continues so does the challenges of sh** breaking out of the blue. While I wish I could post I ran my 9 second pass already it just didn't happen. I'm not sure what broke in the transmission but something let go last friday during testing. Without further or do here is the dyno results though.

It's been over 1 year since the epic engine failure occured and with that being said it's time for the dyno results. I can't provide any track data just yet because work has kept me busy but it should be very interesting to see how it does. I have driven the car a few times to work and just enjoying it on wastegate pressure. I would like to mention a few things the only changes from last year are magnus V4 from E3, S3's from K272s and I went to a larger intercooler but there was absolutely no need to go any larger with this turbo. Also from my talks with my good friends at English Racing they have pretty much narrowed the auto dyno numbers to be 15-20% less than that of a manual trans for our DSM's.

Now the best way would have been swapping the intake manifold and then cams at the dyno to see the actual results from both parts separately but time is money and I went for the homerun. I was nervous because I literally finished the car 1 day before the dyno appointment took it out to seat rings and loaded it up and headed to EFISpecialties 9 hour round trip. Dave gets the car strapped up and here is where I am saying to myself please don't blow apart ! The timing map was lowered considerably and fat AFR's in the 10s on wastegate. Well for whatever reason before wastegate pressure was 25psi now it was 36psi and it laid down 593 which broke my previous personal best of 587 maxed just a year before this.

As he continues to fine tune the the fuel map and slowly adding boost it just kept increasing in power. After each pull we were both looking at the screen like wow this is really good. The second to last pull it laid down 666 at 43 psi. We discussed how far we should push the setup so we did 1 more pull at 44 psi and it put down a healthy 693 AWHP and 453 ft lbs. After that we both looked at each other like holy sh** definitely not expecting that at all. Keep in mind peak timing is only 10* compared to the 13.4* last year and the afrs are right around 11.0-11.2 very conservative. The plugs showed how conservative the timing was and that is where the dyno tune stopped.

Plenty of power left on the table but I wont know how much boost power is left until I get it on the track. Definitely has power left just by increasing timing and leaning out the afrs. I just wanted a nice base tune to see how the powerband looked for now and in my case it was the right move to get over my hump I was stuck at. The intake manifold and cams on a far more conservative tune put down almost 110 more peak hp than my last 2 setups absolutely maxed out. That to me is just insane and I was honestly expecting MAYBE a 40hp gain.

I wish I could've given you guys a true back to back e3 vs magnus v4 comparison but again time is money and i couldn't tell you if it was the cams or intake manifold. The e3 intake manifold is by far the best bang for the buck and is proven to go 8s in the 1/4 mile so I don't want anyone to get too wrapped up in my results because setups vary so much.

Here is last year to this years overlay for comparison. As you can see I didn't lose much on the initial hit and it actually gained power throughout the powerband. We only took it to 9k but it would have no problem going over that because it was not dropping off by any means.

    received_845733199101036.png

    Lastly a overlay from
    2017 t3 bep.70
2018 Morrison fab consolidated t4 mani t4 setup
    2019 Magnus V4 and S3

    received_434894970596454.png

I honestly was contemplating not sharing these results and graphs but I want to keep the DSM community going strong with real world results. Lately it seems like everyone has these small groups where they have to keep secrets because they run 9 seconds but honestly they've become way to cocky in my eyes. I'm going to take the humble approach like my good friends at English racing, Kevin Jewer and of course the Morrisons to providing you all with information. I would have really liked to hit the track and get results that way first but I'm not sure when that will happen. One thing is certain the power is definitely there to get my goal and I'm having fun doing it once again. I hope you all enjoy the build thread and more progress will be coming soon I promise!

LOVE those numbers! It always amazes me how these motors will put it out, with 122 cubes, jeeze.
That 9 is coming, for sure. Now I am getting scared of breaking stuff too......

You'll be good. I was with Keagy at the track his transmission is bone stock for the exception of a shift kit ran 9.1 at only 40psi LOL. Seeing that I'm just gonna slap my spare in with my valve body and send it next time out.

I was actually trying to make it out to Fayetteville with a few friends of mine but got caught up doing some other things. They sent me a few videos of the passes that were made though. I hadn't seen Chris's car make a pass in a long time LOL.

PM me details of the event, I will try to show up. Just finished up my auto swap and looking to make some passes here very soon. Built trans was just finished up by Aaron Gregory and should be here any day along with my Bradco converter. Giving this new auto thing a try this year...
I live in Greenville, so Fayetteville is @ a hour and 45 minutes away, and Jacksonville is a little over a hour.

That sounds good. We haven't officially set up a date yet. Aaron had a lot of transmissions at his house when I visited last October. I know Bradco's place was only 20 minutes away from his place we made a pit stop there. Did you go with the new billet converter?

I'll be using his "no nitrous" converter. Said it should stall my Bw s363 between 4000-4500 rpm. I know on the stock converter it would only go to @ 2200rpm and maybe 2 psi. I have a wet kit ready to install, but I'd rather not if I dont have to.

I haven't taken apart the trans yet but I did send out the converter for a check up and if anything looks out of the norm replace it. Looking at the 28 year old undercoating in the wheel wells and underneath the chassis I decided to start stripping it. Mitsubishi didn't mess around putting this stuff on and it's super high quality LOL. 6 hours in and not even 50% done it's very tedious. If you're looking to shave maybe 10lbs for free and have lots of ambition then I would recommend doing it. After this I'm going to start looking at weight inside the car to remove. Last weigh in was 2870 without me and 3060 with me. I'm not sure how guys get these cars down to 2700 or less without hacking stuff but my goal is to get in that range. 20190706_191635.jpg 20190706_191607.jpg 20190706_191624.jpg
