Haven't posted for awhile. Got to drive about 75 miles on the .82 housing and spool up didn't seem to change but I can't speak on top-end because I didn't make a pass. I broke my hand on November 2nd which put me in a cast but I still tried to make a run at the elusive 9 second pass. I got with Kevin Jewer and he gave me some pointers on my stall tune which worked great. Ended up building 19 psi at 4100 RPM compared to my previous 10-11 psi. Stall up the car take off and at 6100 RPM the afrs leaned out so i let out of it. Checked everything over in the pits took a quick cruise but something still wasn't right. Pulled my fuel pumps out and one was dead ending the season.

Sat down and went over the things I would like to get fit the car with. Plans are 10 point cage certified to 8.5, mechanical fuel pump (overkill yes but no more failures) and a twin scroll housing for the holset. I really want to get the body cleaned up and a fresh coat of paint but $ plays a big role in that one. I also reached out to a member and had him get me a CNC'd water pump pulley that moved to the place the power steering pump pulley was on the inside ribs. This will allow me to move my alternator away from the frame rail which has rubbed a few times while driving. p1.jpg p2.jpg p3.jpg

sounds like what mine does on the two step at 4100 as well. what pumps were you running? this sounds like the issue I was having with the wally 450 on mine. im a fan of that pulley as well LOL id like to find something like that for mine.

I have the jay racing 340's in my car. I think it was just a freak accident where it decided to quit. I literally had maybe 250 miles total on them since I don't d.d the car just take it out when I feel like it or mainly drive to the track race and drive home. I will say jay racing has great customer service he told me to send them back to be tested and one was fine and the other one would turn on and quit. He mailed me back the good pump and a brand new replacement I couldn't ask for much more than that. The member I reached out to for the pulley is erikoberdorfer just shoot him a pm. I did see one just pop up in the classifieds stating a ridiculous price of $450 which is more than double what it cost and the 7 month wait time seems far fetched jfyi but that is only my observation I don't like to see people get burned.

As we get deeper into the winter build season and the racing season fast approaching I pulled the trigger and started ordering parts for this years changes. I ended up selling my exhaust manifold setup, complete fuel system setup, tial blow off valve, tail f38 wastegate and exhaust system. I ordered the Magnus mechanical fuel pump bracket, Aeromotive 11107 fuel pump, Magnus fuel rail for the -10AN fuel lines, 2 new tial MVS wastegates, new tial Q and a JMF 10 gallon fuel cell.

The new turbine housing is at the machine shop just waiting for the email that it is complete. I researched Ptrim turbine housings after I seen a post earlier in 2017 of a 1.15 housing. The one I sourced comes from a T67 the turbine wheel specs for the garrett are 75mmx64mm the holset is 76x67 so very close indeed. The holset bearing housing is also 1mm bigger so that needs to be machined as well. Really looking forward to how this is going to work out being that a twin scroll T4 housing for the HX40 is very hard to find that isn't overly huge. The new housing is also not as bulky as a OEM turbine housing from what I have seen. It also has a 4" outlet so I will need to fabricate a new side exit or complete exhaust still not sure what I am going to do.

Since I sold my T3 manifold setup I am going to need a new T4 manifold. Again researched studied pictures messaged people ask them how they like them. The hardest decision was going with a bottom mount or top mount manifold. I messaged Scott Frazho and he talked me into Morrison Fabrications new consolidated T4 top mount. I know Matt had very good luck with his T3 design on the Holset so I shot them a message. I will talk to them on the phone tonight and go over some details but that is the manifold I have chosen. Either way a twin scroll would have helped my spool up for launching added with his manifolds unique design should ramp boost up even faster. Time will tell because no one is running this manifold yet or has any test on it, I'm basically a guinea pig.

Once the parts start arriving I will be sure to upload pictures. I am still deciding which fuel pressure regulator I am going to run that will be able to control the massive volume the new fuel pump will push. A local friend has a spare set of straight cut gears that I am buying and I will be messaging Jeff Bush to buy one of his trans pans to keep fluid temps down. I will be getting the cage installed April timeframe most likely and if I can do enough side work then a fresh factory panda paint job will happen.

looking forward to seeing the updates. the regulator as the most common on the mechanical pumps has been the aeromotive 13113.

The manifold has been ordered and will be here in 3-4 weeks pretty stoked to see how the car does with it. I got bored today so I organized the garage. I Have 2 spare transmissions and 2 spare t-cases. There was another local trans for sale but the auto hasn't broke so really just for precaution. I did have 3 t-cases but sold one to Tim Zimmer and the rear diff housing was shipped out to Paul Volk back in November for his new 1G rear sub frame which I can't wait until it comes out. I picked this driveshaft loop up early last year but it will be installed for this season. The car already has a J.B designs t-case brace that I was running since last season as well.

I Completely forgot when I bought my franks carbon fiber hood back in December of 2016 that I had also bought the rear hatch as well. Found a local place to get the glass from and help shed a few lbs since that is where most of the weight hides as far as the hatch goes. During the black friday sales I bought the 2018 AHP 200 before it was released and finally pulled it out of the packaging. I planned on fabbing up some stuff on the car anyways but now I am really glad I did decide to buy it. Also assembled the 20 gallon parts washer I bought back in July LOL. As you can tell I didn't have much time last year forgetting about all this stuff.

Still waiting on the fuel cell, fuel rail and magnus fuel bracket for whatever reason got delayed gotta love usps. I decided to go with the Weldon A2040 fuel pressure regulator rated for 5 Gallons a minute right in line with aeromotive specs. Hopefully tomorrow after work I will go and grab the pump, regulator and straight cut gears.

If you havent already. You need to turn the welder on and put some hours on it at high load. These welders usually have a small failure rate that happens within the first couple hours. If it doesnt die you're good to go. The manual says to start it up and run it as soon as you get it. I think they gave you 30 days to report any failures/issues and after that its on your dime to ship the machine out for repairs.

I have the same unit that Ive been running for a few years and it works great. Make sure to check/adjust the high frequency points.

Still waiting on parts to arrive, apparently JMF was on vacation when I ordered and Magnus well don't have an answer on the fuel pump bracket other than they are waiting to make a new batch of them. I have been contacting turbolab for my exhaust housing and that has been a back and forth game for 4 months now. I did get a nice message from Morrison Fab and my manifold should be here next week. I know the picture doesn't do justice and I can't wait to have it in my hands. Hopefully by months end I will have all my parts so I can start working on running the new fuel lines and fabbing up the new side exit. mani.jpg

Not sure how much more the twin scroll turbine housing is going to give me in terms of power probably not much. The torque curve should improve though. Once everything is together and I dyno it again we will see how the swapping to a twin scroll compares. I completely forgot to post the dyno graph for everyone to see. received_10156231168889691.png

I haven't had much time to move forward on the build and probably won't until May. I took some pics of the manifold in the bay for everyone to see how it sits. Finally got the 1.15 housing for the holset so that settles the searching and waiting game. Dropped my hood off to get sprayed and the had the hatch sanded down and clear coated. Took a little bit to fit the lexan glass but it turned out really good I think. The only bad part is that you can't see the carbon fiber once the wing went on. At this point it's all about weight though. received_10216249446734962.jpeg received_10216249448815014.jpeg received_10216249451695086.jpeg 20180303_123624.jpg 20180303_123630.jpg 20180303_123635.jpg 20180310_160353.jpg 20180310_171627.jpg 20180310_171648.jpg

Hey everyone I'm back and behind schedule. Wanted to post some updates on the upgrades.
I got the manifold and turbo installed after I modified the radiator support. I had to cut the bottom off and move it towards the front about 3 inches for my fans to not make contact with the compressor housing. I could have alleviated doing this by going with pusher fans but I like the extra room. Plenty of space now for everything.
    20180508_200832.jpg
    20180522_112810.jpg

I also made a new drain tube for the Holset -12AN with RM Racing flanges. Used some DEI 3/4" heat radiant as well to reflect any heat from the manifold turned out great I think.
    20180522_112821.jpg
    20180522_112845.jpg
Next up I got the custom water pump pulley installed moved the alternator to the inside ribs of the crank pulley. It makes life much easier if I need to remove the belt and of course looks great.

    20180522_113430.jpg
    20180522_112728.jpg

Got the fuel pump and bracket installed. I had to modify the engine mount slightly and remove some metal to in order to orientate the fuel pump just right. Just need to run the feed and return lines and the fuel system will be complete.
    20180520_135205.jpg

So I have had my eye on this AEM for the past 3 years from a very good friend local to me. Well he gave me a call last week and asked me if I wanted it. I bit the bullet and bought it. This is probably one of the if not the last brand spanking new AEM Series 2 for a 1G left in the Country. I was skeptical at first because I have been using link for so long and it's very capable powering fast cars still today. I just wanted some fail safe features for when I start turning it up.
    20180522_113302.jpg

This is just a work of art here guys I can't express the quality of this manifold. This pic was taken right before I installed the radiator and intercooler.
    FB_IMG_1527003775476.jpg

I sold the old school 2 tooth Kiggly in favor for the new billet 12 tooth and also ditched the black top CAS and installed a late 2G/EVO style cam sensor. This will give the ECU optimum resolution of what's happening. I was nervous drilling and tapping the cam but it went nice and smooth.
