I am kind of new to the scene and I want to know the advantages to using a gm maf and the maft.

If you use it in a blow-thru setup it can help the turbo spool up quicker because it is less restrictive. You use it in conjuntion with the MAF translator to tune with. It's a pretty good tool to tune with, especially if you have an S-AFC to fine tune with. Very simple installation too.

Advantages: Less restrictive airflow, a full 3" W/ the GM Maf. The ability to use it in a blowthrough setup, which means better metered air. The ability to vent your BOV to the atmosphere in blowthrough setup. And w/ the maf translator, you have the ability to adjust for bigger injectors, and tune your base, mid, and WOT, and possible nitrous control. And the fact that you have to have the Maf Translator in order for the GM Maf to work.
