Getting the tachometer working

I currently just finished doing coil on plug conversion and deleted the power transistor, i'm using toyota coils which has 4 pins, 12V, Ground, IGT, & IGF. I read on some forums that IGF signals can be used as tachometer input. So then i did connect them together , but the tacho doesn't work. What should i do?

Who's tachometer, the factory one in the cluster or something else? In what car?
