gauge calibration

Has anyone had their gauges calibrated. I mean how long would a boost gauge be relaible for. I know that the tolarences have to move the longer it has been used.

I guess it may be just as cheap to buy a new one, My concern is how do you know that when it says 20 PSI that it is no shit 20 PSI.

Well I have a Blitz SBC-ID which reads boost digitally so if my gauge was off I could tell but from what I've seen they are both the same.

Get another gauge and hook it inline, they should read the same. Borrow one from a buddy, check them both together.

I had a autometer guage with a nice internal leak, I could pressurize my system and tap the guage I would see a nice 7 psi difference. Got to love mechanical gauges, but they are cheaper. Just do what defiant says.

whoa. Did you send that back to AutoMeter for a replacement? I'd bet they would, if you hadn't beaten on it.

It was tapping I did, just like they used to do on the old fuel level gauges, right before they dropped a marble in the tank?? But no, I only had it a few weeks, I think 3 before it happened so I took it ot my buddy at checker they swapped it, and got me a new one, but while I was waiting for it to come in (belive it or not a ultra-lite mechanical boost gauge is special order here) I sold out and got Greedy, I like it, reacts just as fast, I dont have to worry about he hose coming inside, just 3, well 9 wires. Since I got the fuel pressure and EGT, all being peak hold 60mm. Now I have the autometer attached to my intake pressure test jig, therefore I can see how much I am pumping without having to run around and look in the car, smacking my head on the A pillar like a moron. it was only 40 so who cares.

But it was cool, so much air blew thru the bezel trim so hard, I could feel it on my face with the windows up.

Never tap an instrument any harder than you'd hit yourself on the bridge of the nose.
