When you get the lazy, fat and spoiled masses that compose America to rise up, I'll pull a pig out of my ass and make some bacon.

This is right up there with not buying gas from three larger gas station chains.

I like bacon, but not that much.

I recieved this from my aunt. It could work if everyone is willing to participate.

This is worth a try...
Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read it and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.75 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.. not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to
force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are ot selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If
they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point.. Keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the
time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached
over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it...... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from EXXON and MOBIL. That's all. How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK

It could work, but only if people follow it. But I gaurantee that not enough people will actually follow through...

This is what they call learned helplessness. This "how can one person make a difference" attitude keeps things in the same crappy situation and keeps the same jerks in public office year after year (I don't care which side of the fence you're on).

Everybody's gotta get out their and do their part. I do mine by leaving the car at home and biking 20 miles a day to where I need to be. :thumb:

On the other hand, nobody likes spam in their email boxes, even if it is for a "good cause."

I've just been talking with everybody I know locally that drives, and have told them NOT to buy gas on September 3rd. If you need gas that day, carpool or take public transportation.

A one day boycott will be devistating to the market and prices will drop.

That is the most retarded thing Ive heard. Why would you do that? You still need to buy gas the next day then, and companies would have raised the price to make up for there loss.

Good thinking :tease:

You could make it a couple of days.

Regardless, why not follow the rules?

Wow..somebody hasn't been doing their homework.

I believe this is about the 15th time that link has been posted here.

So what if Exxon and Mobil are the only gas stations in a town??

Anybody know what kind of gas Vons uses?? :D

Oh, me, I know, they're all the same! An d since gas is restocked weekly a boycott would take sevral weeks to work and only hurt your local station who has no control over price.

This plan wont work. If you really get everyone to stop buying from ExxonMobil, then there will be more customers going to the others, (Chevron, 76, Arco, etc), and those companies will RAISE their prices, because you will have the same amount of people buying gas, but fewer sellers. Or at least thats what my dad said (he used to teach Economics.) :boring:

A better idea would be for all the dsmers to do that mitsu diesel swap that Morphius is working on and make your own biodiesel using french fry greece from the local fast food restaurant. One time purchase of the equipment to make it happen plus lye?? and a little methanol = no need for petroleum fuel.

This was actually posted by a DSM Tuners Wiseman? Oh no. :coy:

Yes, and then exxon/mobil will lower their prices to compete. Durrrrrrr

Found this on another forum. Do I think it will work? Possiably. I never bought mobil gas anyway :thumb:

good god man. Chill out. I just found this on another forum and it sounds rather practical. I dont belive that the gas will drop that much but it will do a little somethin.

Chevron or somebody must have come up with that email spam crap. :notgood: In my area right now I will get gas wherever it is possible to get it! Waited in line 3 hours yesterday just to get the $20 limit....

It won't do anything because all of the gas comes from basically the same place. Where do you think the small companies get their gas from? Yep, you guessed it. Exxon and Mobil.

The only ways I can think of to truly effect the prices of gas are:

1) Conserve fuel. Don't drive any more than you have to, and carpool when you can. If you don't burn it, you don't buy it.

2) If you drive a vehicle with a diesel engine, start investing in biodiesel or some other diesel alternative. If the trucking industry did this, it would make a BIG impact.

It all boils down to high school economics. Supply & Demand. Either the Supply has to increase or the Demand has to decrease to lower prices. We can't affect Supply, so we have to focus on Demand.
