gas cap

My gas cap won't pop open. I have to have someone hold a key or coin or somthing like that in it in order for it to pop. Do I have to replace somthing or will some WD-40 work? Anyone else have this problem?

Perhaps you mean the gas FLAP, which COVERS the CAP?
Check the housing for your actuator cable, sounds like it's just worn out or has slipped in the holder- or, you've lost the spring that pops it off the latch when released. Check the wreckers.
