I have a few concerns on my 1G. I will be running E85 all the time and was wondering if a 255 is enough pump for E85 and stock 14b. I also need to do the "rewire" can someone please jump in and instruct me how to change the pump to a 255 and do the rewire? Thanks guys!

i would get a larger pump just to be safe, youtube has a video of rewire how to, or anywhere on line, once you do a google search dsm rewire, its easy to find.

The rewire is quite easy. If you go to any of the vendor sites I believe they have the instructions along with the product itself. It took me a little less than an hour to install. If the fuel pump is a drop in, all you have to to is drop the tank a little (if fwd) or pull up the back seat (if AWD) and simply pull the plate, rewire the harness, and drop it in. It really is an easy job.

Here is a link to a great write up with pictures on rewiring the fuel pump on a 1g awd dsm.
Rewire Fuel Pump
Also the larger fuel pump as the guys stated will be able to handle your goal. Having constant higher voltage will ensure better and consistent fuel flow, solved a lot of headaches i had with my car.

Thanks guys. Yeah mine is AWD I'll check out the links you guys gave me.

Will I have to do anything else with my fuel system? Like lines or anything like that? I already have ID2000's, just need to get the pump and anything else I need in.

This is the VFAQ, you should become very familiar with it :thumb:

For around 450hp, you won't have to replace the lines. You'll probably want to change out the stock fuel filter for something more compatible with E85, but the stock filter will still work. At least get rid of the restrictive banjo fitting from the fuel filter outlet. You're probably going to want to install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with that fuel pump as well. Those injectors are going to be more than you'll ever need! What are you using to tune with? Your car wont even run with the stock injector global settings and a 2000cc injector. Plus, those ID 2000's are HiZ injectors so you're going to need to bypass the stock injector resister box, but surely you knew that before you bought them. The search function is your friend. Pretty much everything you need to know has been covered on this forum.

I'm sorry that was a typo. They are Precision 120lb injectors haha. I will be using link to tune with, one of my buddies will be tuning the car for me. Thanks for all the great info!

A rewired Walbro 255 is way more than enough for a 14b.

Fuel pumpe is also not underneath the seat on a 1g. The access panel is in the hatch, drivers side for awd only.

Ok cool. Theres pleanty of room to pull the pump out on a AWD right? You dont need to drop the tank at all?

That's right, you get to it from inside the trunk. Read the how-to on the VFAQ site, the gives you tips on breaking the stock fuel line loose so you don't damage it. Also, a walbro 450 is way overkill for 450hp. Just run a single walbro 255, cheaper and easier to install anyway. Seriously though, read through the fuel articles in the VFAQ.
