I'll give you about 6 months before you start switching over to the performance side, and start caring a little less about body kits. Again, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's what this site does to you. You learn a lot because people are very honest and knowledgeable. I might have thought that bump on the hood represented "turbo" at one point too, shhh...dont tell no one.

well ive only owned the car for about a month since the drunk driver totaled my 3g and this car is already Turbo Ready that's basically all it would need for performance everything else is done. and as far as the body kits go, i bought the car and it already had some HACK JOB body kits on it so i bought new ones just so it didnt look as dumb as it did. its a serious upgrade from what it was beleive me! other than that i do like the stock style of this vehicle, but on the 3g i owned, without body kits that car is just girly and rounded and i hated it without them

Have you though of getting a stock 2gb bumper and just enlarging the front hole all the way to where you want it?

for sure, the only parts i need at the moment are cosmetic, a headliner, (non-sunroof) and the very rear trunk insert ive checked all the local junk yards but all of them are cracked and it seems EVERY headliner begins to sag ughh!

I'm curious, you say the car came turbo ready with your built stuff, did you build it or the previous owner? I only ask because how can you be sure you actually have said parts if you haven't torn into it and checked. Especially when you said "heads" LOL.

Quick, someone kill it before it lays eggs!!
Look on the bright side, when you realize you're trying to turbocharge the least responsive engine ever put in an eclipse, you can use that abortion on a front bumper as a shelf for a few 30 racks.

People that love these cars have the same passion as the old guys with their muscle cars.
Next time you see an old man in a 69 Camaro SS, ask him why he doesn't put a bodykit and huge spoiler on it. Chances are he's going to tell you its always been perfect the way it came.

As a response to your original post. Buy a sawzall and go nuts, it cant get much worse.

say what you will, i dont care what you think of my vehicle, any engine can be great if you have the money and time to build it right, and its not an old 60s car and i will make it look one of a kind as i see fit. and if i ever blow the motor i have a 4g64 motor sitting around that i can drop in and turbo which is a much better platform than the 4g63 in yours its a shame they never made a turbo version

:ohdamn:

You just need to stop.

EDIT: Just to be a little helpful, you can always buy a cheap junk bumper from the junkyard or possibly certifit and start mocking your creation up on there. That is, if you're really dead-set on putting a "grill" on your car.

Look at both 420a and 4g64 engines and tell me how will you do that swap???

oh the spoiler LOL! yeah thats about 10 lbs im not really worried about it as For ever 100 lbs u remove from the car it only adds 1/10th of a second on the quarter mile. doesnt make too much of a difference, but yea i mean the area directly in the center of the bumper IN BETWEEN the headlights the part that petrudes upwards i want to cut out a small portion all the way across and make a custom grill in there with some sort of Emblem in the middle,
SOMETHING LIKE THIS!
2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition - Exterior Pictures - 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition... - CarGurus

BUT I DONT THINK ITS EVER BEEN DONE!

explain this as well please!
Funny thread you have here by the way.

Seems a little dickish to flame a guy thats actually posting about his "cosmetics" in the "appearance" forum. Of course if your only into dsms for a month you may not want to talk to much like you know something about the performance of the car till you have built a performance car. Just saying.

OP as to your question. Another option is to get some fiber glass and make a mold over the area your wanting to change. A little more compact, and if you dont like what you designed you can throw some more glass on it and do it again till you find something you like. As to the grill or what i think you should do. personally id take a gremel and cut the diamond star logo out of the center of that. Head up to a metal shop get some SS round bar and fill that diamond star in with small billet. throw in a couple of LED's to make it pop. just my $.02

the idea with the DSM logo sounds great in the front bumper but its just not me, i dont do stickers or any other logos on my vehicles, and although i have owned this 2g for less than 2 months i owned a 3g for over 3 years and spent well over 10g customizing it as well as the 4g64 motor.

now to explain why the 4g64 would be better after a mild build... the 4g64 utilizes a longer stroke as well as a 10:1 compression ratio, now i know the compression ratio may be a bit higher than the 4g63 but you can port and polish the heads and what not during the build to change this. the 4g64 platform can be run UP TO 17psi on STOCK internals and the cranks have been tested up over 1000hp and never broke or spun a rod. my idea was to always take the evo 8 set up as well as DOHC head and transfer it all to the 4g64 and build it up from there, and as far as making it fit in the 2g motor bay goes, anything can be done with some skill and alot of time and patience. you guys all build the 4g63 but take a look into the 4g64 do a little research its a great platform, it was built for a turbo and never got to see one from the factory.....lame.... and the 6g72 nonsense, thats where the eclipses started going down hill...... granted the 4g63 is a great engine ive just heard such horrific stories of all the problems that they have and the crank walk issues. this is not to say im against them i just dont have one, instead i have a built, turbo-ready 420a, but once again guys dont discard an idea just because you dont know of the possibibility of it

I wonder why Brent Rau didn't use the 4g64 then? :hmm:

I think you might have a lot more to learn. :banghead:

I run 22 lbs all day on stock 4g63t internals. And that huge paragraph you wrote litter ally makes no sense. Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and never mention anything else that involves n engine on this forum again because you sound ridiculous

the black edition is definitely different, not bad. if thats what you like, i wont dog it. building cars is all about what YOU like not what others think. to each their own. ive seen body kits look good when time is taken and the seams are shaved and molded but if it is done poorly..... yea. good luck man
