I just wanted to say to laserspeedemon that I respect what you are doing for not only car enthusiasts, but the community in general. It felt like this scene had died out after 2006 but you are doing a wonderful job at kickstarting the dsm scene again. Im very impressed from all the good things ive been hearing. Ive only made it to 1 meet so far but I plan on making as many as i possibly can. Ill be more than likely out there this meet.
 
illegal of vadriven and myself are trying to get some goons to head down for next weeks meet.
I hope this weeks is a good turn out take pics and vids so I can share on teh other forums.

REV-X becomes central Virginia's largest automotive meeting spot.

This past weekend was REV-X's biggest turnout, with a counter at the check point we had 363 rides show up from 9:00PM - 2:00AM. There was plenty of stuff to do from checking out people rides, to getting dinner, munchies, coffee, etc. at the full-service, indoor Cafe operated by REV-X, listening to the music blaring on the sound system or just relaxing and talking about anything in life. I have started planning on expanding the sound system to cover more of the lot WITHOUT blaring it from only two speakers (this makes the music unbearably loud in the front row and barely audible in the back)

I may make it down there eventually. Every weekend I haven't been away racing, I've been building a 4-car garage. Garage is getting near done but am away this coming weekend racing.

Since I was censored elsewhere, probably due to making too much sense, I'll post my feedback here.

The people at the gate were dick-bags. The meet was enjoyable, good people there, but I don't appreciate the way I was spoken to and treated at the gate. I was immediately approached and spoken to with an attitude as if I was already causing trouble. I've been going to meets like these for 10 years. I know how to behave, I don't need to play hooked-on-phonics games to prove that. If I misbehave, ban me. And I'm pretty sure that big redneck dude that was guarding the entrance was drunk. If he wasn't, he certainly acted like it. Just as immature as the idiots they are trying to keep out.

single lane that acts as both entrance and exit - AWFUL Idea. Created such a problem getting in and our, and the hairpin turn to get into the parking lot was pretty retarded. If I ever drive my car out there, you will be required to move the cones, I have a locker am not going to do a 15 point turn to get around that stupid hairpin entrance.

While I like not having the music, I must mention my confusion over the noise issue - the noisiest thing out there was the 4 wheelers that were acting a fool everywhere. That is a major liability if one of them hits a car and causes damage or if they eat it and get hurt.good
 
I agree with some of what your saying. Overall I think the meets have been a positive experience. Only thing that really kind of ticked me off was at the gate, it seemed like i was treated a bit like I was a kid, I even had one of the guys at the gate ask me if Im atleast 18 years old (like does it matter?) LOL and instead of asking me to repeat the rules, he told me to read them off the board like I was giving a drunk test or a vision test. Listen, im 25 years old and I know how to behave myself, you will never see me burning out or driving fast, or anything for that matter. And then i had to make that ridiculous turn in that narrow space between those cones..come on turning radius on factory AWD DSM's suck..last thing i want to do is put it in reverse..if Making U-turns wasnt bad enough.

But I understand some of this needs to be done in order for the meets to stay alive. I have seen too many meets like this get shut down due to idiotic ricers causing trouble.

Keep up the good work Sean, i hope the meet continues to grow. :thumb:

Dave, next just think about what you are doing. You went on to a CHRISTIAN facebook page and started posting profanity! What did you think was going to happen? I told you to repost what said without the profanity. I don't have the ability to remove words, only entire posts. I have people from the Church leadership that oversee REV-X, that includes the Facebook page.

The gate is there for a reason, and NO ONE ELSE is volutneering to help out. If you don't like it join the team and offer suggestions like they do. And the reason we made people read the rules was because I was getting several people breaking the rules and then claiming they didn't know them, because A) they didn't read the flyer or b) used the back entrance and didn't get one. And it only takes 1-2 people making too much noise for the cops to show up. So just because you behave doesn't mean everyone else does. So I put polices in place to make sure no one can deny them. And guess what? IT WORKED!!! Not one person revved thier engine only one person started bumping music.

Again we did this for a reason. We can get license plates numbers of people who act a fool when the enter/exit because they have to go by slow. We don't have the space or the man power to run both exits.

Only one of 4-wheelers went through the parking lot once and that was the last time I let them ride until most everyone left. Before that they stayed on the grass hills behind the property. One of the guys race his 4-wheeler, so I'm not worried about him wrecking off the dirt. As for the noise part, I was testing the waters. They were too loud, so they are no longer allowed.

Bro you have 3 choices. Come and deal with the way things are ran. Come and help us run things or don't come at all. It's up to you. I really would like you to join the team.

The age thing was actually brought to our attention by Sherriffs department. Dumbest law in VA. VA has a curfew, minors have to be home by 12:30 something. If they wreck on the way home at 1:00 AM or something, we can get sued. We are liable. The Sherriff suggested carding people, I was like "screw that!" The thing with the tight turn was just a dumb placement of the truck on our part. We are going to move the truck further down this weekend.

We are new and are still figuring things out. I need people like you and Dave to speak up so we can figure things out faster. Just don't cuss on our FB page.:p

Well FYI the people at your gate were being extremely rude including cussing before I even got a chance to earn it... haha.

I don't care what happened with morons claiming they don't know the rules. They are posted, if they break em, ban em. No need to treat us behaving adults like kindergartners. They are claiming they didn't know the rules because it's the only excuse they can think of. They know the rules, it's common sense.

That's pretty messed up that you/the church can get sued because someone else broke the curfew law. Nobody is keeping them there, it is their own choice to break the law. They have every opportunity to leave. But, you're right, that makes too much sense, and it's much easier and more likely that the law will just blame you, sadly.

Honestly my only REAL complaint was just them being assholes at the gate. They were rude right off the bat, and it rubbed me the wrong way. I'd been there before and never had an issue with that. Different people this time I guess.
 
Yep, I know they cuss. Only three people out like 13 on my team go to church. The rest of them are non-church goers. And I don't judge them for that. In fact, one of my favorite people from REV-X is a hard-core atheist, he is a cool guy and he is my friend. I believe that by showing love and grace, that they will bond with me. And I will show them a new life, instead of "telling" about a new life. It is working, my team members are starting to see life different. I know it's not going to happen over night, but I'm sure it will happen in time. My security team leader (Dan) was not there, he is good at keeping the team calm and reporting to me without overwhelming me.

The worst part of all this, is no matter what, it all comes back to me and the church. Some kid breaks curfew WE get sued. Some random dude starts revving his engine, WE get the cops called on us. I don't want to kick people out at all. I hate having the rules, that's why we were going to build the burnout pit and why we are going to have Race Days on Saturday Mornings. The only rule left would be No drugs and No Alcohol and that's not an unreasonable rule.

Sad part is, even with the way we are doing it now. There are always a few people that will test the rules. And I have to deal with it. If we get fined by the county for noise violation REV-X is done. So I have to find some way to control the people, even if it offends some. Because not controlling them is worse for everybody. Reading the rules should NOT be bothering you that much. It takes like 10 seconds and you are AWARE that it's because of the trouble makers and not you. In fact, by not letting it bother you, you are setting an example to the rest of the people it does bother and you are helping me out by subduing the strife. I mean if some one near you complains about it, just say to them "Reading the rules should NOT be bothering you that much. It takes like 10 seconds and you know that it's because of the trouble makers and not you."

We are having another meeting at around 8:30PM, I'd like you to come and voice how you felt about being treated rudely and being cussed at. I don't want it to be a debate though. I'll try to control them, if you can not get upset. Understand that people get defensive when they get criticized, so they may try to intervene, I'll do the best I can to stop the bickering. I just want you to voice how you felt and then I will discuss with them about how they talk to people.

The neighbors are out of town for the next two weekends so we going to allow music and revving as well as have our own system out again.
 
Eh, it's nothing that I really need to go argue about. I just wanted it brought to attention as feedback so you'd know what was going on. Cussing doesn't bother me, I only brought that up because my own dirty mouth was mentioned.. haha. It was really just the attitude that bothered me a bit. I thought they could have been a little more polite. I understand they probably deal with assholes all night long who like to talk back to them rudely, but there's no need to get an attitude with me because of other people being morons. I don't know. To be honest rudeness doesn't really bother me at all normally, I guess it's more a matter of the fact that I feel like if you were in my shoes you probably would have been unhappy with the way I was spoken to at the entrance, as, no offense, you're a little more sensitive to that stuff than some of us :p and knowing that it is a church sponsored function, more than likely wouldn't agree with, and it's probably something you'd want to know about. So I guess moreso than an actual serious complaint, as it really doesn't personally bother me, I'm more just trying to bring it to your attention as it's something that may concern you or the church.

I'm pretty confident you'll straighten it all out, done a good job so far, just need the feedback to keep making the right changes.
