Thats kool that this meet is growing. But it sucks to hear that someone had to be stupid and disrespect the church and you by doing a burnout in the lot. Thats even more awesome that they are talkin bout a burnout pit.

Why are you going all the way to VA Beach to dyno your cars?

Nah, everyone's reaction was kinda funny.

First mini-truckers showed up draggin their rides, I hadn't cleared "draggin" yet. (me and Josh, the owner of Varides.com were going to test it to make sure it doesn't mess up the parking lot) so I was all :ohdamn::nono:. Then the lead pastors walked out of the church at 10:30 and I was all OMG (they are usually gone by 9:00). Then she saw the mini-trucker draggin and she was all OMG. "It's going to catch on fire!!!" Then I was all :tease:. I explained it to her and she was all :D:thumb:. Then someone did a huge smokey burnout and then I was all OMG:ohdamn::nono: again. Then I went over to the mini-truck group (doing the burnout) and told them "Good job doing that right in front of the property-owners" and all of them were OMGOMGOMGOMG. Then the other lead pastor said, "What if we put in a burnout pit? So they could do that and not tear up the parking lot." And me and Josh were all:D "Seriously?!?"

burnout pit is a major liability. Problem is most of the people immature enough to use it, would be the people who do not know how to properly do a burnout (i.e. safely start, stop, and exit the box) and someone or someone's car will end up getting hit. You'd have to at least seperate it from everyone by a curb or something in the LEAST.

I would definately suggest putting up some sort of barrier for the pit incase tires blow, someone launches out of the pit, etc. Hopefully I will be down there with my car n my girls car, or just my car or visa versa.

Good point, I'll point that out. The burnout pit will have a crew, there is a run off area that will be cordoned off and fluid path in and out. This is a little ways out, though.

I've spoken to some of you guys about meeting up in Springfield but everyone knows how fairfax county is. So instead, we all could meet at the Dicks Sporting goods parking lot in Woodbrigdge Va @ 8:00pm and plan on all cruising down to the fredericksburg Meet as one group around 8:30pm or so to give others time to get last minute tag a longs, GAS, Food, Etc...

So for anyone else who plans on going to the Fredericksburg Meet this Saturday the 5th of June and is around the area (woodbridge,manassas,dumfries,lorton,springfield,annandale,alexandria,leesburg,tysons,arlington,etc...) Just give me a call or just show up. PM ME and I'll send you my cell phone number for additional info.

5 DSM's are on schedule to show up, should be more by saturday though.:thumb:

REV-X: VENDORS! MUSIC! BURNOUT PIT!!!

Last weekend was insane. I mean ABSOLUTELY insane. With the East Coast Honda Meet in Richmond, a VW/Audi meet in Maryland, Rolling Thunder in DC and a local shop playing the UFC fight all on Saturday, I expected there to be a near 0 turn out. I am happy to admit I was very wrong. We had about a 120 vehicles at peak and around 160-ish cars throughout the whole night. This was without my Honda/Acura group (they usually make up half the attendance).

Vendors:
I am pleased to announce that Fred's Recon will be joining us as a vendor every other Saturday starting this weekend. Fred's Recon is an automotive accessories shop. And handles anything from custom electronics sales and installation to window tint to wheels and tires and everything in between

Music:
Salem Fields Community Church has provided us with a pretty decent outdoor sound system so I can now talk to the crowd and play music.

Burnout Pit:
So approximately 10:30 a large group of mini-trucks come rolling in, dragging their frames all on the pavement. Not more than two minutes later, the head pastors (Pastor Buddy and Gaye Marston) come walking out the church. It was right about then when one of the mini-trucks decided to do a HUGE smokey burnout. So as I'm talking to a property owners, we become swallowed in a cloud of smoke. After shaking my finger at the offender, Pastor Buddy says "Why don't we just build a pit for them to do that in?" My jaw as well as about 20 other jaws dropped to the ground. One guy said "THIS IS THE COOLEST CHURCH EVER!" So I am pleased to announce that we are in the works of getting a burnout pit made. BOOYA!!!! This does not give you permission to do burnouts. BURNOUTS ARE STILL PROHIBITED IN THE PARKING LOTS!

SEE YOU AGAIN SATURDAY, JUNE 5TH @ 10:00PM

sounds good man. I try to be out by the end of this month. See if I can get some goons to come along.

glad to see that this hasn't been a flop.

Im out for another week or so. My drive up went pretty successful. Only had one problem, which I cant blame the car for. My PC680 decided to swell up and retire somewhere in NC. Car still ran but needed a jump to get started. After talking to Odyssey the situation is being handled and they are taking care of it. Apparently the regular PC680 is not designed to be in an engine bay or see temps over 112*. For it to be in the engine bay you have to run their metal jacketed version. Guess the heat from the long road trip baked her pretty good. Hopefully have the new batt this week.

I stopped by tonight. Pretty decent turnout. Saw all of 2 DSMs. More trucks than anything else though. Music was nice to have as background noise but kinda too loud I thought. I like to hear cars as they roll in and out.

One being mine. LOL there was a silver GST on the far right of the lot. and i agree the music was good background noise. Do you really like to hear all the civics speeding out?

REV-X ADVISORY!!!

I have been getting reports of people being pulled over after leaving REV-X. One thing I noticed was most people leaving the church parking lot has been doing 1st-2nd WOT pulls on the church driveway. I've even seen some people doing it as they turn on to Gordon Road. I can tell you right away this is going to give you a lot of attention from the Sheriff who are now starting to park right across the street. This is one of the reasons why racing/speeding on the property is prohibited: Not only is it dangerous, but it's draws law enforcement to us, like blood draws a shark in water.

I would like to speak with anyone who has been pulled over after leaving REV-X.

Don't be afraid to come up to me and give me feed back. From where I was (behind the speakers most of the time) The music was barely audible. It wasn't until someone come and got me and pulled me to where his car was that I was like "WOW! That's loud" I need feedback so I can adjust things to the groups liking. Maybe I'll setup a feedback booth or something.

Short of talking to the department yourself I don't think much is going to get accomplished. By all means if people are being deuchebags they deserve to get pulled. It just kinda angers me to see them cherry picking like that because I know that responsible people like myself who just cruise along obeying traffic laws will suffer harassment going and leaving due to it. If the cops are sniping cars all night long I'd be willing to make a good bet that I'm guaranteed a pull over due to being a red import.

The other thing that pisses me off about it is that you are doing a good thing for the community in general, not just the car guys as car guys, but by providing a place to hang out and enforcing rules it cuts down on delinquent activity elsewhere, which is a charity in itself, and the law enforcement is interfering with your attempts to help the community.

If it continues to be a problem, I recommend finding a newspaper connection and see if you could get a nice biased article published that makes em look bad and makes you look good :)

What kind of citations are they handing out? Driving offenses or random stuff like exhaust tickets? I'm not coming if they are handing out exhaust tickets to responsible drivers LOL I can't afford that kind of trip to a church parking lot.

REV-X NOW SERVING DINNER AND DRINKS!!!

I noticed that a lot of people were leaving to get food/drinks. Two weeks ago, I polled the REV-X attendees on whether or not you all would like the Cafe to open to serve food and drinks. I got real positive feedback that a facility that sells food and drinks would be well received. Well now you don't have to leave. Starting June 12th, the Rubicon will now be open to sell food and drinks until 2:00 AM (Saturday's only). In addition we will have REAL restrooms (now more tree pees) open for everyone to use. The idea is to start a flow of income to help grow REV-X through the church. There are bigger plans for both REV-X and Rubicon Cafe.

I won't talk negatively about the local law enforcement on a public forum, I will say that some of the Deputies are on board with what I am doing, if you were there earlier you'd see that the fire department came out and popped the cabin to show off their engine, and let the children climb in and out of the ladder truck. But my hands are tied when after I constantly tell people, via face to face, via flyers and now over a stereo PA system, to NOT SPEED and they do it anyway.

Why not invite the Local LEO out to the event? Let them setup a little booth or area. Have a cruiser and/or UC car on display or motorcycle and let them try and put a positive spin on what they are doing for the community. Thats how I would approach it. Invite them in, instead of them sitting outside like a pack of wolves looking for prey. Most are probably under the assumption its just another ricerfest full of disrespectful irresponsible kids trashing the place and breaking shit. Break the barrier!

We did this at a local bike nite in Fla. Invited the PD out with their Harleys, it cut down on BS in the parking lot, and no dodging of the POPO when you left. And it also helped them see another side to the sportbikers in the area. Next thing you know, they were even sponsoring give aways where the money was going to a charity. Just a thought.

If that works, then contact the news/paper and be a hero! Show them how the car scene and local law enforcement are sitting around the fire holding hands! LOL!

This is a great idea. I back this 100%.
