It sounds like a $700 car that doesn't start. It might need a new battery ($75) or it might need an engine ($100-3,000).

We can't really appraise something we can't touch/see in person.

Grinding noise eh? Could just be a bad gear on the starter or some bad teeth on the flywheel. Would have to check it out in person.

Sounds like a good parts car, but since it's N/T a good portion of the car would be useless to you.

Edit: grinding when trying to start would probably lend itself to a cracked flexplate (yes N/T manuals have a flexplate. the clutch is a modular assenmbly)

I didnt even notice it was an n/t. Could be a cheap daily, if its an easy fix.

I'm always down for new parts cars

I just found my recent project/parts car on craigslist for 400$
95 tsi awd......grinds when trys to start, i found that the solenoid from the starter was just hanging out the back as it came apart, and when i unbolted the starter, part of the flex plate came out with it haha
