Here I will document the building of our old 1G drag car back to glory this is what we started with.
Seeing as how this car hasn't seen the light of day in over 10 years most of it's parts were scattered into the wind. The majority of parts were in boxes in several different locations. Our first order of business was making sure we had everything to put it back together. We then threw together a mock up engine setup so we can check for bolts and engine mounts as well as do some intercooler and exhaust planning.
Beer was of course required because well who wants to work on cars sober. Good news is that most of the parts are accounted for and we even found a good stock block candidate to work on. We've currently got it torn apart and awaiting a gasket kit to put back together.
We're not using an unlimited budget we're trying to do this in a way that most people could build a DSM. The only part that we have that's really high dollar is a RPS twin carbon clutch from back in the day. Other than that we intend to put new rings, bearings, and gaskets in a stock unknown mileage bottom end with a stock head, and stock transmission and see what we can do.
Currently we are prepping the engine bay for paint as well as the interior of the car before we start putting parts in it we want to make it shine and knock it out while the getting is good.
Of course we have our pick of turbos to run but we've settle with one of our entry level 400WHP turbos the 71HTA just to showcase what you can do with very little money and some know how. Of course after we do that we'll turn the knob to 10 and shoot for the moon but for now it's all about baby steps.
