Just bought a johnnyracecar intercooler from ebay, its the biggest core listed on there right now. This question is rooted from the johnnyracecar thread but was only answered part way and I have a few more questions related to the custom piping....

just wanna make sure this information is right ( this is for a 1ga)

3x - mandrel bent U bends (or 180* bends)
5x - hightemp silicone hose or napa radiator hose
10x -t clamps from napa or home depot motorsports

now i have a few more questions

- what dimensions are needed for the parts listed above
- will i need any straight pipe and what size
- i want to rid all the ic pipe from the ic to the tb, can this be done and how so? (what pipes, flanges, etc...)
-anything im leaving out please let me know

we should make a sticky thread on this since it has become possible to piece together you own fmic kit for much less then the kits that are being put together and sold for big profits

with a sub-500$ price tag more ppl would most likey be interested as long as they know there is alot of work invovled...

thanks in advance
kyle

You're asking us to give you exact dimensions on where to cut the pipes and to what length? You've got to figure that out for yourself during the fabrication process.

all side-to-side fmic are mostly the same but i guess ill order what i stated already and see how it goes....ill take some pics because they are despritely needed

Definately keep everyone up dated on this, I am interested myself. I have one of those front mounts I copped for nothing and really don't feel like paying an arm and a leg for intercooler piping. Oh and you are definately going to need some straight pipe. I believe one u-bend goes from the drivers side intercooler outlet, to a straight pipe that runs underneath or behind the intercooler, back to another bend that connects to the turbo's j pipe.

here's my writeup

anyway to get rid of the UICP and go short route piping you'll have to get: a throttle body flange, a BOV flange, probably 1-2 45 degree bends and some straight piping. just take a ruler out and figure out how much of what you need..

as for the driver's side end tank, [if you have a 16G] flip the lower portion of the jpipe towards teh drivers side and connect it with a 180 bend with a couple straight pipes.

IC pipe making is VERY simple. you just need to use common sense and stick all of the parts together. oh and use the same size diamter piping as your endtanks
