I went to the Sacramento Raceway this past Wednesday for the first time. My best run was a 16.5 at 83 MPH with a reaction of .9867. I need to work on my reaction but is this any good. My worst run was 16.7. Just wanted to know if this was slightly better then expected from a non-turbo DSM.

That's good in my experience, I'm just a casual racer though, I only hit the tracks about twice a year. Most N/As I see up here run mid 17s to 20s... How embarassing...

Good runs though. :thumb:

Not bad man......as for the R/T, that doesn't mean jack unless you are doing elimination rounds. 60' is where it's at. Good job anyway! :thumb:

16.5 is about right for a bone stock N/T ....good job... any plans for future mods ?

I have AEM V2 Intake now. H&R Race springs coming in today. GReddy Evo Exhaust. GReddy 4-1 Header. ACT 2600 Clutch, Fidanza Flywheel, and AF/X Pulley.

Yeah that's not bad at all. Like Goblin said, they usually run into the 17's but I've never heard as high as 19's....that's almost pathetic....

I ran again today and hit a 16.4 just off of the intake. I plan to get in the high 15's by Spring time.

Wait...you did a 16.4 with all those mods or just with the intake?

It sounds good for an N/T, unless you alread had all that stuff done...

No I ran the 16.4 with just the V2 Intake. Those other mods are the mods that I will be getting in the next couple of months. Hopefully by next season. I hope to be running at least 15.9 with those mods what do you think.

Thats good...I would hope that with all the mods I think a 15.5 should be possible, and maybe a higher flowing cat on top of that and some stickier tires.

Then if you wanted to stay N/A you would start to get a bigger throtle body, better intake mani, high flowing head, cams, higher compression and all that stuff next...that is if you want to take it that far.

I was thinking avout getting some cams but I want to stay smog legal. Cams would make that impossible. I know it's worth the horses but I'm not sure. Do you know if you port & polish your header if you can still pass smog. Also if you port your intake manifold and bore out the throttle body if you can pass smog? How much do you think that this would cost. Do you know of anyplace I can get it done?

Last night a Dodge SRT-4 was in my girlfriends neighborhood and he saw me taking off my number and my dial in time. When he asked what I ran I told him 16.4 was the best he said that his truck was faster then that. It pissed me off because this guy doesn't know how hard it is to make a n/a Eclipse. I tolh him it was non-turbo and he said oh.......that's why. This guy said he was running 13.8 but that is right off the lot. I mean it is nice to have a fast car without doing the work but I'd rather have a 15.5 car knowing that I built it then to have a car that was running that fast off the lot.

well you could tell that guy to #### off...I smoke SRT-4s all day long...they can keep up in 1st-2nd but as soon as I hit third..buh bye and the car lengths keep adding up

Yeah SRT-4's can't hang with turbo eclipses. I'm just focusing on beating my friends hatch. He was running 16.000 when we went to the tracks. He had just intake and exhaust. Completely stripped car. No backseats, no panels, spare, etc. Only both driver and passenger dise seats. I think once I add the header and cut some weight off I should get somewhere near 16.000. I also want a high flow cat. Do you know of any good ones?

Any of the high flow cats in the parts catalog on this site would be great. As long as they are the correct I.D. (inside diameter) as your exhaust...but even if your header ended with 2.25 I.D. and your Cat-back was 2.25 then a 2.5" high flow would work just fine.

Do you know of any place that I can get the head port and polished? How much would it cost? Also how much will the intake manifold cost to get ported. I know that this would give me substantial gains and inprove my 1/4 mile time drastically.

well, for head porting and everything, I would suggest you ask around, and find a good local place to get it done...sure you can send it off, but I think that any local machining shop would be able to do just as good of a job, and you wouldn't have to ship it anywhere.

Call up places like

DSS (san luis obipso)
Pro Street (nor cal)

and ask them where they send their heads...or if they do them themselves and how much would it cost to get yours done.
Yes this will help your 1/4times...but your cams will still be limiting your air flow. You MIGHT be able to pass smog if you had a fresh cat with cams...but I don't know. You COULD always take them out every two years...even though it is a pain in the ass...it would be worth the performance (to me)

Also if you were going to pull the head off, I would suggest you save up a decent amount of money and at least put some higher compression pistons in at the same time (like 12:1 at least)...if your were staying N/A...if you eventually planned for a turbo then drop some 8 or 9:1 pistons in. You would really be starting to get into the higher expensive end at this point.
