I am using the stock pipes so far with an HKS muffler. I was wondering if I would benefit any by removing the resonators and the cat...but sticking with the stock piping. I am thinking about removing the resonator and the cat, or just the cat. Which one do you guys think i should do, or both in order to improve HP a little, keep good torque, and give it a better sound. By the way this is all done on a 95 Talon TSi. I plan on upgrading at some point to a 16g turbo so if this helps in the decision thatd be great.

Don't waste your time doing any of that shit. Just save some money and get yourself a good exhaust. You will notice quite an improvement changing it out, especially when you slap on the bigger slug.

well it only costs like 30 bucks to get this done at my local muffler shop and he wont look into the no cat aspect of the setup. A full 3inch cat back will run me a bit more than 30 bucks im thinkin...
i'm a poor college kid so thats a big aspect...

Ok I can understand that. You will notice some gains taking out the car and the resonators, but they will be minimal. Once you put on the new turbo you will want to look at upgrading the exhaust, if nothing else, have the muffler shop build you an exhaust, even if it's pressbent it's still better than stock.

My suggestion would be to get your supporting mods in order before you think about upgrading the turbo. You won't notice the potential of a larger snail w/out having the supporting extras.

well i have yet to even look into buying the turbo or anything...I am in fact completing the supporting mods now so that wont be a problem. Most likely I will upgrade my exhaust when i do get a larger turbo, but for now i think i will just eliminate these....

also when i do upgrade my exhaust will i need to upgrade my downpipe and stuff to match up with something like a 3inch setup?

Sounds like I am understanding the point you are trying to make now. For what you a talking about your current setup and plans, just removing those exhaust restrictions will be good enough.

When you are talking about exhaust you pretty much want to work your way from the rear forward. This means start with a cat-back, then add a downpipe when you can. You don't HAVE to buy a downpipe, it just helps things out a lot.

Got any more questions or anything, just keep posting away man.

well my question is when i do upgrade to a bigger exhaust then do i need to upgrade my downpipe and such in order to accomodate the new size of the pipes, or will they (the muffler shop) be able to weld everything up and mount it using my stocker downpipe??
