Now that I'm maturing/getting older/whatever, the low rumble of the Thermal and other exhausts are really just giving me a headache. I am a big fan of the new 350Z's great sounding exhaust. Now, my question is why do turbo cars have a different sound than the NA cars? Granted we are 2 less cylinders than the Z's, but why can't we have a sound similiar to theirs?

becaue turbo cars blow alot more air than a n/a. Exhaust gases exit out of the exhaust alot faster.

Does anyone know of a muffler that will give a turbo DSM a less deep sound? I was thinking of maybe trying a Remus or maybe even putting a 350Z muffler on to see what kind of sound you could get. Any ideas?

I'm well aware that mearly putting a Z's muffler won't give me that exact sound, but it would give me something different. NSX guys have swapped their mufflers with those of a Ferrari and have had reasonable sucess, that's why I asked if anyone has tried it. Now, anymore insightful comments anyone?

I dont think it is possible to change the sound of the cars exhuast. Unless u have a differnet engine configuration.

For example a Impreze WRX with 3" piping and Tanabe Fireball canister will sound like a Harley Davidson (bubbling like rumble). Theres no way to duplicate that sound unless you have a boxer engine like the Rex.

A souped up Honda VTEC has very high pitch and ear piercing exhaust tone (especially at astronomical high revs of 9~10Ks) which no other N/A car can duplicate neither. (sounds abit like a Motor GP Superbike)

throw a 3" inlet /outlet flowmaster on the back , get the one with the three chambers. i heard that lowers the sound abit but it isn't gonna change the sound of a 4g63 , just be greatfull you don't have to deal with the lawmower sound of a scooby(wrx), or banshee sound of a skittle (srt-4) if i had those with an exhaust i'd kill myself if i had to drive more then 30 miles.

By some resonators and weld them one 1 at a time until you like to sound. You will hinder flow some and get more back pressure, but it will lower the exhaust note.

i have a 420a n/t with header down pipe, high flow cat and high flo resonator with stock muffler and it get mistaken for a turbo all the time sounds sweet i think but theres alot of sweet youtube videos on 1g and 2g exhaust, listen to them and take your pick...:hellyeah:

N/a exhaust has a much deeper sound, though im running to resonators on my tsi :D

What comic book did you read that in? The exhaust is expanding, and being pushed out by the pistons. If anything, the turbo will try to slow the exhaust flow slightly, but it still has pistons forcing it, just like any car. :ohdamn:
