Hey guys, maybe u can give me an answer on this one. I have a 2g eclipse GST and I wanted to do a little to me exhaust so I went out and got an Arospeed muffler and put it on. Now when I put it on it didn’t make the exhaust as loud as I thought it would and it almost seems like my car is slower then it was b4. Also my boost went down by about 2psi but I don’t know if its b/c of the muffler or the upper intercooler pipe.

So give a response if u think u know what’s going on, any response is appreciated

thanks, jason :dsm:

Why would you just put a muffler on instead of a whole cat-back? I can't see the stock muffler being that restrictive, thus not much HP gain. Get either a turboback or catback and put in a test pipe. Gobs of highway power will come to you.

The problem is that you went the cheap way of doing it...its strange that you boost 2 pounds less...you might just have leaks that occured the same time....just putting a muffler on like you see people do everywhere in the world doesn't do shizznit you need a nice 3 inch cat back exhaust..now if you are saying you are getting a catback exhaust if you use that muffler now you need to get the piping cutome made for that muffler cuz there is no point of buying a Exhaust now and hacking off that mauffler and using your **Ricey** Arospeed muffler..I would just save up and buy a nice whole new exhaust..new or even used they work the same and sell your muffler to someone else...

that's what i did. i slapped a SS mufflerless tip in place of the ugly beat up stocker on until i saved up enough for a turbo-back. do the usual. check your IC piping and all vaccum lines, and intake pipe to make sure everything is on tight, but you probably have already. does your boost gauge read pressure only or does it read vaccum as well? that would show a leak under the hood. any leak caused by the muffler shouldn't hurt the car at all being that it is after the turbo. do you have an MBC?

p.s. paint the center piece ;)

thanks for the info.

i have a boost gauge that reads vac. and boost when im just idling it will read 20psi of vac. and then when i get on it, it will spike up to 17psi of boost then go back down to about 13psi of boost. and no i do not have a mbc, yet

I cant tell you whats wrong....I took my mbc off to spare my engine so I went from 15 psi and stock exhaust to 10-11psi and a pace setter cat back and now its faster than with more boost. for 200 shipped you could have had a 2.5 inch mandrel bent nice sounding exhaust not ricey at all. Its great for keeping your low end torque and rasing your top end hp. good luck.

PS: Dont knock pace setter till you try it!!! best exhaust Ive used, looks stock with a little chrome tip, nice low barley audible sound...until wot growl!! sorry to sound like a vendor.

It will get really loud. Depending on the muffler it will sound like crap too. Mines loud, and sounds like a cesna going down the highway.
