Purchased a set of new front axles from my local CarQuest for my 1992 GSX 5 spd. Upon arrival today I opened the box to find a 1pc driver's side axle. Not a outer cv axle to couple to my factory half shaft. I have NEVER seen this before. My first thought was there has to be a reason Mitsubishi designed the OEM assembly to use a half shaft with support bearing and bracket. I did a Google search as well as searched on here as well. Nothing came up. I did come across a picture on STM's website showing upgraded front axles that use a 1 piece design. So I'm not sure what to think. My brain goes down a rabbit hole thinking of the difference in stress and torque on an unsupported axle that's 38" in overall length. Am I over thinking this situation? I just didn't realize this was a "thing". Did I receive the wrong axles? Drivers side P/N is NCV51049. Pass axle P/N is NCV51052. I appreciate any input on the matter.
