Ok I have read from the HAYNES manual for 95- 01 ecplise and eagle models all models that you can extract trouble codes for the 95 to 97 models equiped with OBD II.
I have a 96 GS-T and my check engine ligth is on.I have reset the PCM by unplugin tha negative cable from the batery and it turns of.Ive done this because my car runs GREAT onder any driving condition.
But after while it comes back on so and starting to think that there migth be a problem after all and it also starting to to bother me:mad: !!

Now the manual says you can extract trouble codes from this car by using the IGNITION KEY METHOD.It says that you must turn the ignition key ON,OFF.ON,OFF,ON in less that 5 seconds and the check engine ligth will flash the trouble code stored on the PCM.
The thing is that ive done this about a MILLION TIMES and no codes are displayed!!!

My question is am I doing something wrong???
Is there another way of pulling the codes from the PCM like in a FORD by installing a jumper wire on the diagnostic port for the PCM????

By the way my car is runnig great perfect idle and everything what could be causing this??

THANKS IN ADVANCE
:) :dsm:

Hey don't feel bad I couldn't get it to work either. I spent a good 1/2 hour trying to get that to work,I think the guy that wrote the book was just being funny. I don't know if your auto zone will do this but the one around here has a OBDII scanner and I think they do it for free, might want to check that out. If you know anyone that has a pocket logger meet up with them. Besides I don't know what to tell you, hope this helps.

AutoZone will scan the codes on your car free. Take it there.

Or, since you're in other parts of the world, find a dealer or buy a pocketlogger.

Other parts of the world as in PUERTO RICO but is cool.
So you guys are teling me that the IGNITION KEY THING is BOGUS????
And there is no way of conecting any jumper cable on the diagnostic port???

Then I guess I will have to pay for someone to extract this code since there are no auto zone franchise in puerto rico!!

But if I have to then I will.....
Thanks guys later..
