engine temp

Ok Monday I drove my car around pretty much all day and everything was fine, but when I went to go to work this morning I got on the Highway and the engine temp started rising past its normal position, infact it got almost into the red before it just dropped back down to normal. I was realy confused, but since the temp was back to normal I continued on to work, then again right before I got off the highway it shot way up towards the red then just dropped back to normal temp.

So I got to work, checked my coolent lvl and it checks out ok, so I get done with my shift and start leaving work, it does that same raise towards the red then drop to normal temp only this time when ever I braked the temp would rise.

This is realy freaking my out, I just replaced the battery & altinator and I realy don't have the cash to throw more new parts into this car. If anyone knows what is causeing this please help I am so very confused

Maybe your thermostat is stuck? It's about a 10 to 15 dolalr part, doesn't hurt to replace it and see.

Sounds like a head gasket!
