Hey guys im looking for some insight on the 1g engine bay harness differences. No i am not talking about the engine harness(the harness that comes through the passenger side of the fire wall and has all the engine sensor connections etc.).For those of you who are not following me I am reffering to the harness that starts at the fusebox on the passenger side by the strut tower and continues down in the core support then through the drivers side fender and into the kick panel area at the inside fuse panel with harness connectors to tie it together.

Here is my question which years and models are interchangeable on these? All cars including 1.8 and auto and stick cars, turbo and n/a, 1990 and 1991-94?
I am figuring and I may very well be wrong that since my car is a 92 turbo 5 spd car that it at least needs to be 91-94 5spd maybe the 2.0 n/a will work?

Lets hear it if anyone knows.

1.8L
-1990.06.1: MB530360 -- ALL
1990.06.2-1991.06.2: MB802121 -- pop-up headlights
1991.06.3-1994.05.1: MB823861 -- fixed headlights

2.0L FWD (turbo and non-turbo)
-1990.06.1: MB530360 -- ALL
1990.06.2-1991.06.2: MB802121 -- pop-up headlights, W/O ABS
1990.06.2-1991.06.2: MB818055 -- pop-up headlights, W/ ABS
1991.06.3-1994.05.1: MB823861 -- fixed headlights, W/O ABS
1991.06.3-1994.05.1: MB823867 -- fixed headlights, W/ ABS

AWD
-1990.06.1: MB542455 -- pop-up headlights, W/ THEFT PROTECTION
-1990.06.1: MB596580 -- pop-up headlights, W/O THEFT PROTECTION
1990.06.2-1991.06.2: MB802123 -- pop-up headlights... not sure what option code CAPS is giving, TW9 - W/ ABS and THEFT PROTECTION
1990.06.2-1991.06.2: MB802125 -- pop-up headlights... without whatever option code above is, non-TW9 -- W/O ABS and THEFT PROTECTION
1991.06.3-1993.05.3: MB823861 -- fixed headlights, W/O ABS
1991.06.3-1993.05.3: MB823867 -- fixed headlights, W/ ABS
1993.06.1-1994.05.1: MB823867 -- ALL

So, if you don't have ABS, any 92-94 1.8L or 2.0L non-ABS harness will work. If you have ABS, any 2.0L 92-94 ABS harness will work.

Great info. I wonder if any issues would arise from using a non abs harness if the abs delete has been done(the pump and proportioning valve not the electrical), I wouldnt think so.

As far as the ABS goes, I'd agree that there wouldn't be any issues.

Otherwise, the thing that concerns me are the three connectors branching off of the engine bay fuse box harness (inside the cabin, driver side) that join with the main body harness. I don't know for a fact if these particular connectors on the body harness side are the same for ABS and non-ABS vehicles. On the other hand, I can't imagine they'd be that different. Though in either case, I definitely don't see any reason why you couldn't switch connectors to correctly match if you needed to.

Well thanks for the help here. I will let everyone know if the 2.0, n/a and non abs harness works in my car within the next couple of days.
