Well since the original game plan I had was confirmed not to work here in site I am in a position to grab a completely naked canvas for a new build.

I have wanted to build an eclipse or 3000 gt and can find both in running condition fairly cheap locally.

Based on a non biased opinion i was hoping to get a few opinions here on site and some pros and cons of both from other members personal experiences.

Aporeciate your Inputs and sincerely looking forward to reading up on info from educated members.

Well let's start with this, what trim package eclipse are you wanting? And what trim package 3000GT are you wanting? I own both a 98 Talon TSi and a 92 3000gt vr-4, they're both awesome cars but in different ways. They both have downsides too. The 3kgt's are heavier, handle slower, are harder to work on, and are bigger in general to DSM's. If you're going to get one I'd suggest saving up some and getting a vr-4. You'll get awd, twin turbo, a lot of cool 90's tech, and they're very attractive cars imo. Did I mention that they're pretty fast out of the box? They are! More than 100hp more than the DSM's depending on the year model. Then of course if you want an eclipse/DSM over a 3000, just make sure you get a factory turbocharged car. Nothing against 420a cars, but just trust me. It's worth the extra money to be able to deal with less headache down the road if you decide to modify it. They stuck the 4G63 in the higher trim models for a reason you know! Happy searching!

The above posts sum it up but if you want further opinions you'll need to tell us what you're trying to do. Build a fast car? Need a nice daily cruiser? On a budget? Building a drag car? What is your skill level? What is your budget? Your post is just really vague

I have had 2 2g's and my brother has had a 1g and a 3kgt VR-4. It was a cool car with lots of power, but everything is more expensive, harder to find, and harder to install. That being said, it is more rare and more spacious.

I'm looking for a street car
Mainly pull up to the locals or after hours 1/4 runs and have a little fun.

Budget builds are always fun. Like I am mechanically inclined. I have almost.every tool under the sun and the experience to use them.

Having just recently done cylinder heads on a vr4, I will say that all of the cool tech on a 3000 definitely come at a price. And that price is real estate. It's definitely a case of '10 pounds of stuff in a 5 pound bag.' Is you don't mind pulling the engine out to do any moderate amount of work to it, by all means, go with the 3000. Otherwise, I think the DSM may be a better option.

None of what you describe would be filled by a non turbo mitsu.

It's probably pretty safe to say you'll have an easier time finding a GST or GSX in decent shape than you will a VR4. DSM's were probably beat on more so than VR4's just b/c the higher price tag kept the younger generation away when they were new, but there was a lot less of them while the DSM's were quite plentiful. That said, I wouldn't buy the first DSM you see. As mentioned, many were beat on and have passed many hands at this point. I was just reading a book the other night that said the quote should really be "patience is golden" (not silence) and I couldn't agree more. The more patient you are the more golden things are gonna be. Cheesy I know, but sound advice. Wait for the right one ...

Down south it is far easier to find the vr4 or stealth twin turbo cars than it is to find a dsm. Because they were so expensive they were spared the ricers stickered death, and many can be found in good condition under 10k in Texas. Up north they seem to be rarer though. I passed on an 92 rt/tt trade for my gst. The resale value on them is extremely thin, it either sells fast or it sits here in the south

They are super cool cars, I just prefer the DSM platform. My good friend had a VR4 probably a decade ago. He purchased a one-way ticket and bought it off a doctor who was a car collector and had it up on blocks in storage. He drove the car back and probably had it 2 or 3 years. Why he ever sold it I'll never know. It was a white 99 with the tan interior. I rode in it a few times with him - very nice.

Truth. I got my VR4 from a quick rip car dealer for 3k in 2009. Dude wanted to finance it to me at whatever the stupid rate is that you can get taken for in Alabama. After he agreed to a price his face went from  to :| real quick when I handed him 3000$ Cash.

If you're going to get a 3s instead of a DSM, make sure you want it at least what... 30% more? Because that's how much more everything will cost.
