DSMr's w/ MAF Translator <Inside Please>

Long story short, I have a friend that has a MAF Translator for an LT1 car. Anyway, he went with a different tuning aid (LT1 Edit) and said he'd give me his MAF Translator if I can use it on my DSM. I'm thinking (more like hoping) it's the same internal components as the DSM translator, except with different ends for the wiring.

Now for your help. If anyone can take some detailed pics of the internals of their DSM Translator, with the wires/ends, that would be great. This way I can compare them to see if they are even the same circuit board or if they are completely different.

I'll also need the intructions for setting the dip switches etc.

Any help here would be appreciated. I figure this is worth a shot, afterall it is free. :) There's not a whole lot of internals to that Translator, so it should be fairly easy to compare from a good photo.

Well, considering the LT1 doesn't run a DSM ECU.......well, you do the math.

Have you even seen the inside of a MAF Translator? It's VERY basic stuff. I've seen calculators with more electronics than this thing. I'm sure Ramchargers uses the same exact board for ALL of the translators made for every different car. The whole concept of this is very very basic. All it does is convert/manipulate a signal, that's it.....

All I need is a pic guys. :)

You are most likely right about the circuit board. However, the brains of the MAFT is the e-prom chip which is programed for each specific vehicle and application. You cannot interchange without changing the chip. The LT1 unit will NOT work with your DSM. But hey, its your car, you can try it but do not say I didn't warn you. If you want a definite answer call Mike over at Ramcharges and ask him.
 
Since this ramcharger unit came from an LT1, it was probably using a gm mas before.

The dsm translator converts hotwire to karmen, the unit you wanna use probably only modifies the lt1 mas for more power it doesnt do any converting. Now you could probably flash the unit, but good look getting ramchargers to give you a copy of the programming.

you can try calling them and see if they will sell you just the chip but I doubt it.
 
The DSM version is a completly different unit including the board. It will not work, I did not think it was that basic either :confused:

Sorry Mike, I wasn't trying to downplay your product in any way. I'm sure it does exactly what it's supposed to do. In fact, I'll probably be purchasing one in the near future. Any chance I could send in the LT1 translator for a discount off a DSM translator?
