Depending when the open house opens I will probably be leaving Saturday morning at 4am.

Does anyone know how much it costs for the dyno Saturday?

I was thinking it was $50 for 3 pulls. I could be wrong though.

Well I plan on attending. I was at the makeup meet last year and it was still a blast. I will be living in Carol Stream, Illinois when the time comes so where is everyone in that area meeting so I don't make a 5 1/2 hour drive all alone like I did last year.

got like 5 6 dms leavin the Canton Ohio area on sat morning heading to buschur for the dyno then to the amerihost to get drunk!!!!!!!ROFLROFLROFL anyone thats on the way from there then let me know we can all meet up and drive down together :talon:

Ok, I got an idea but this is going to be hard to cordinate. If anyone is passing near the Chicago area I say we all meet at one location and head to Ohio together. I assume most of us plan on arriving Friday night, correct me if I'm wrong. I say Friday afternoon we meet south of Chicago near I80 or I90. It should take roughly 5 1/2 hours to get to Ohio. If we meet around 2 p.m. that will get us to Ohio around 7:30 p.m. If anyone wants to get this going let me know. Try to get everyone involved and we can make one huge convoy to the shootout.

A good place to meet up in past years has been at Lincoln Oasis on I-80/I-294 in South Holland; it's a good intersection for anyone coming from the greater Chicago area and Wisconsin, and as long as you leave there by noon, you'll hit Norwalk well before sundown.

looks like a good place for everyone heading that direction. I'm not to worried about the sun going down as we all have headlights I assume. So what does everyone say about getting to this oasis and what would a proper time be?

If you left there by noon and cant make it to norwalk by 5, you shouldnt be driving. That would be only averaging about 50mph.

Heh. You just did the math I've done every previous year, which is why I'm not in a big hurry to organize or join a caravan this year. ;)

Let's just say that keeping a large group of hyper-aggressive DSM owners together can be challenging. Add their i-need-to-pee-because-i-drank-5-gallons-of-energy-drinks-at-the-last-rest-stop copilots/girlfriends to the mix, and a healthy dose of I-80 construction, and you have a recipe for a six and a half hour drive.

A suggestion from previous years: have everyone bring an FRS radio and decide on a channel at the gathering point. As long as you all stay within a mile or so of each other, you'll have pretty good coverage, and random outbursts over the radio make for a bit of amusement. (Although, most people seem to develop Tourettes the moment you hand them a radio.)

Does anyone want to do this on Saturday morning?

We were thinking about leaving at 4am saturday morning just to avoid the traffic and get to Buschur's when the open house starts. Then stay there for a while, go to the hotel when we can check in, then take a nap.

I'll try to do the 4am plan, but I have to see how many last-minute things I have to do Friday night. I plan to run my car for the first time, and I want to make sure I have tools and stuff just in case.

;)

noon central time to 5 eastern time is 6 hours. Most people forget about the time zones when traveling. Whenever i travel with a group of car guys, we always end up going at least 10mph over the speed limit. Alot of times way over the limit. If you are going 80/90 the speed limit in IN is 70 and 65 in OH. I think you could stop every hour and still be there by 5.

I live about 100 miles closer than the oasis service plaza. I drove my car to the 118 exit in ohio where you need to get off to go to norwalk in 2.5 hours, so your actual driving time for that trip will be around 4.5-5 hours at the speed limit

I fully agree with this statement.

That would be me. I cant make the 2.5 hour drive from MI w/o stoping at least 1 time :D

You sir have the smallest bladder on the planet, either that or you are just retarded for drinking that much on a roadtrip in the first place.:p

I will as long as we can get enough cars to do it. If only like 3 people are going to do it, I'll leave Friday night.

This is to early for me. If I was going to leave at 4 in the morning, I wouldn't bother sleeping that night. I need my 6 hours of beauty sleep.:D

Well as long as we are one large group I don't think we will have a problem with speed to much. As long as this isn't like Cannon Ball Run we should be good. If we start pushing 15+ MPH that is where I will start to back off. My car draws enough attention on its own, it doesn't need the help.:sneaky:

I leave with plenty of time so i am in no hurry to get there.
And I do have the smallest bladder on the planet(i am in contact with guiness) +I drink non stop. (thats whats nice about having brakes on my car, i can stop when ever i feel like it :p )

Interesting to know Guiness likes your small bladder. I drink lots to, I'm just used to road tripping I'll hold my liquids almost all day if need be. So we need to decide Satuday morning or Friday afternoon. I'm for whichever is the popular vote. Dave, any chance you can turn this thread into a poll so we can get an accurate count?

If i had any sort of power i could :( all i can recomend is start a new thread - ill chime in on that one.

To much work, we'll just try to keep track on this one then. They all start at the Lincoln Oasis as previously mentioned. This makehift poll will end on Thursday at noon to keep everyone straight and give people time to pack and be ready. Alrighty, so we have a couple choices. First is Friday afternoon. If this option is chosen, we need to choose a time. Remember, it's about 5 1/2 hour drive. The second option is for Saturday morning. Not sure what time Bsuchur opens but accounting for, let's say 8 a.m. we can leave about 4 a.m. cause traffic will be very light.
I don't know who all wants to wake up at the butcrack of dawn and drive for hours on end but I don't so my vote is on Friday.

Anybody going from Northwest indiana? Im thinkin about goin if i can get people to roll with me!

Im leaving from Elkhart, IN. Saturday morning I think. Im hauling 2 other cars, so its going to depend on them a little as to when I leave.

I will be at the OASIS by 4:00 on Friday afternoon. Will anyone be there to meet up?

Well, I wish there was more of a dedicated DSM presence here in Milwaukee. I talked to a couple guys locally, but they were all like "No, I don't go to that," or "what's that."
