So I’ve had a little down time between builds so I decided to start rebuilding a manual trans that I have sitting. The trans was one of my buddies that failed while driving down to drop the car off for upgrades. He was getting off the exit and lost 2nd gear completely. This is what I found. The bearing on the bottom of the intermediate shaft completely fell apart and the bearing surface was pitted. The other interesting find was the whole through the case underneath the front diff. Whoever owned the car before stripped out the 8mm transmission bolt. Instead of fixing it they installed a longer bolt and went completely through the case sticking out underneath the diff. I had to take a long 8’m x1.25 stud and ground the end down smooth so I could use it as a damn while welding the case. I preheated the area and cleaned it as best I could. Everything went well imo
