Does the amount of drivetrain loss increase as you modify, or add more power to the engine, or does it stay the same amount as if you were stock? Example: a stock 2g GS-T usually dynos at around 172 to 178 whp, which is roughly about a 38 to 40hp difference from the crank, which at the crank the car is rated at 210hp from the factory (Duh!). Does the 40hp loss stay the same even if your making more power like for instance 260whp = 300 crank hp, 360hp = 400 crank hp and so on. Thanks!!

It probably works more in terms of a percentage. 172whp is 81.9% of 210bhp. So, 350bhp would probably be approximately 286whp (350 x .819).

OK, so let me get this straight. If I was trying to make 450hp, and my car dynoed at 172whp stock, and I applied that very same (450 x .819) I would then get 368whp. That would be an 80hp loss through the drivetrain and to me that seems like a whole hellava lot of power being robbed when the car only lost about 38 to 40hp at the stock 210hp rating. I just don't understand how 40 + more hp get's lost through the drivetrain while adding more power to make 450 crank hp. Is more friction just being made or?? It just seems to me that the drivetrain should just lose the exact same amount of hp at the wheels everytime as it did when it was stock at 210hp. How does it end up soaking up even more power? Anyways.... I do know that the consensus about fwd drivetrain loss is usually about 15 to 17%. I apoligize if I'm making this very difficult, I'm just trying to understand and learn. Thanks!!

I doubt it'd be that linear, but your losses will increase with speed. I don't think they'll take a significantly larger percentage of more power. Do some web searches, though, this has to have been worked out by someone.
