Anyone else notice that the driver side engine mount bracket (the one with 3 bolt holes, and that holds the bushing that gets a through bolt into the frame of the car) actually has conical bolt holes? Is that to allow more flex I'm guessing? Its only the outer 2 bolt holes, the one in the middle is normal. Tried searching but didn't find any mention of this oddity.

The conical holes are normal but it isn't for clearance. Your car should have studs in the bracket that is attached to the motor. Those studs are tapered to fit inside of the mount. I'm assuming that whoever owned your car before you pulled out the studs and went with bolts. Probably a good idea to get new studs at some point.

:ohdamn: Great yet another hackjob courtesy of a PO. Honestly wtf would anyone do that...Any idea where I can find the studs or a mount bracket with them? Having trouble finding either...

You'll probably have more success buying the whole bracket with studs in it and then remove the studs and place them in your bracket. To get the studs out (you have to remove them when you pull the middle section of the timing cover) just use two nuts as jam nuts and back the stud out.
