are my posts invisible or something? This is the 3rd time I'm posting to say I'm not downshifting above 5mph. I'm just talking about between like 1mph and 5mph. If its above 5mph I'll use 2nd but at 1mph 2nd just sucks and coming to a complete stop is even worse

At one or two MPH, you should be able to get it into first. If not, then you will either have to use second or come to a complete stop and then use first. I would recommend using second, esp. if your syncros are worn enough in the first place. As far as making a turn at under 5 MPH......

well, im mostly doing the downshifting (when not at a stop) when i'm taking a corner at like 5mph
I thought only my grandma took corners like that. :p J/P. Where I'm from, any corner can be calmly taken in second gear because I'm usually going a little faster than 5mph.

when i'm taking a corner at like 5mph and want to accelerate out of the turn. In second it just seems like its starved for power.

I have a 92 TSi and also exprience this problem. I have found that if you downshift in secont gear and shift to first when your engine speed comes down to about 1,200 RPM it slips right in to first no problem. Hopefully this helps.

as i stated a few posts up, im not trying to go into first above 5. even at 1mph it just wont go into first. Its probably just a bad synchro or something. And Im not sure if you have a 1g turbo but i can drop into 2nd at 50 and not come close to redline. 80mph is closer to my redline in 2nd.

Not that it really matters......... but at 80mph you should have long ago bounced off the rev limiter. More than once.

Thats what I was thinking i redline 2nd at 45 mph and 3rd at 75mph, maybe its a non-turbo thing though.

NOONE HERE IS DOUBLE CLUTCHING LIKE YOU SHOULD!!!! :D

no seriously i can slide my 90k mile old awd trans right into 1st gear at 15mph or whatever if i want to.

say your in 2nd

clutch-shift to neutral-hit the gas to match the engine rpms-clutch-slide into first

takes some practice - but i drove a 2g awd for almost a year with no second gear synchronizer whatsoever

y take a corner in first when u can take it in 3rd like a kewl ass street raca? ease first gear in very slowly instead of just shifting, it likes it that way. or slam it in(which i have done :p , now i have a new tranny).

From my experience I too couldn't downshift into 1st unless I was at a complete stop, but then I had my clutch replaced and haven't had a problem since.
