nothing you can do creatively with a modified tool? vice grips or maybe hammer on a slightly smaller or near-sized SAE socket? are we talking about a stripped bolt head?

I will say one tool that you need when working on these cars is ratchet wrenches. Those things work wonders when trying to get into tight spaces. The only downside to it is that if the bolt is physically too close to something then you cant fit the wrench on it.

Bolt head looks rounded off to me. Heads marked 8 making it a hardened bolt. User error? I don't feel this has anything to do with cheap stuff.

That bolt does not require you to remove anything........ heat and visegrips. Or buy a cheap wrench undersized and grind it to fit and tap it on with a hammer get creative. That bolts see basically little to no torque .

ive been using quality socket head cap screws on those. you could grind a 6 point socket down (around the outside) so the walls are thinner to get that out maybe, looks pretty beat up now.

Generally those come out easy. youll be ok.

    funny post haha

A 90s era vehicle is the perfect platform to get into if you want to build a tool collection :p Doesn't matter what type, DSM, Honda, whatever..

Try a stubby open ended box wrench, they're about half the length of a normal one.

O0o i know. I have 3 tool boxes.. a big kobalt ratchet and wrench set.. if i had a small wrench i wouldn't have enough leverage. The bolts are on tight and the way the bolt is only allows you to put the rench on and its right up against the pipe.. the turbo has to be droppdd ... idk why i asked..

Have you tried a screw extractor? Drill a hole in the top of the bolt, get a screw extractor and spin it out?

Home Depot sells them, I used one on a broken turbo manifold bolt a few months ago.

Things probably should come out easy, but how many people here have went to remove an oil filter that was put on by someone else and had to put a ton of force on it to break it loose? I couldnt tell you how many times I have went to move a TV and when going to unhook the cable or satellite cable from either the TV or the cable/satellite boxes which are only supposed to be hand tight just so the connection is stable, people use those adjustable wrenches and torque them like crazy.

Sometimes people use red loctite on things that either shouldnt have it or at best should have blue loctite.

Take a nut smaller than the head of the bolt & weld the inside of the nut to the head of the bolt. You should have plenty of room to place a thin walled deep socket on the nut you just welded on and spin that baby right off... Piece of cake!

I wish every bolt was both hex-head and hex-key. It sure would make life easier in some cases.

I highly disagree. But we all have different tools here, so whatever floats your boat.

Why do you disagree? Some high torque bolts might be an issue but I hardly see how it matters to set a hex-key in most bolt heads. Some of the hex-head bolts on our cars came with a crosshead screwdriver provision, which is nice.

Exactly. You said every bolt. Those could be exceptions. I'd be fine with it then
