im looking to get a dog box transmission..
is there any different ones?
witch one is the best?
do they sell just the parts? Like a kit?:hellyeah:

what are you power levels, or desired power levels for the car??

i think this is one of those subjects where, if you have to ask you dont need it:aha:

Exactly.

Especially for the fact that you don't tell us what your current horsepower levels/torque levels are at. How many race transmissions have you already destroyed? What usually fails on them? Which race transmission buildups have you had in the past?

What engine/turbo setup are you currently running?

Are you already running a twin-disk clutch?

If you haven't run in the 9's, you likely do not need a dogbox.

As well, I don't think you would be asking the who/how much questions if you actually are making this kind of power already.

Shep sells a straight-cut dogbox gearset and it runs a spooled center differential and open front differential. You can pay the extra $1400 for the Quaife. You can also pay extra for the 5th gear. Expect $5000-7500 for the transmission depending on your options, FOR THE GEARSET.

Marco sells the "Dogmission" straight-cut dogbox gearset and it runs a 1st-4th gearset with your existing front differential and a new center diff case. You can pay extra for the billet shift forks, 5th gear option, and a 4-spider center diff. Expect $4500-6100 for the transmission depending on your options, FOR THE GEARSET.

Both gearsets still require your transmission case, and a few parts in the transmission, including your differentials. You will still have labor and shipping charges on top of the approximate prices I listed above.

If you aren't making 600+AWHP currently, you are really not in the need of one. As well, they are not the end-all transmission you think it is; they still require refreshes and rebuilds from time to time and are not cheap.

Magnus, Shep, and Dogboxracing all offer dogbox transmissions. Your best bet is to call them up and talk to them about it, because there just aren't enough people using these things to get any solid feedback about them.

edit: damn you Tim!
