i have limited funds right now and my front speakers in my car are on their way out. i have the infinity sound system, but i ripped out the head unit and replaced it with this alpine head unit and i was wondering if these speakers here would work. they are 6 3/4 sized speakers and they look pretty good. let me know.... thanks!

Yea those speakers would work fine as long as you don't have it turned up all the time. If you do then you could ruin them pretty fast. the amp puts out 50 watts per channel and the speakers are recomended for 40 watts or less. but if you do have it turned up occasinoslly then they won't break or anything. But 40 watts per channel is pretty loud unless you're a crazy bastard like me . They're made of titanium and alluminum, so they're pretty good quality. If I were you i'd get some that can handle a continuous 50 watts, just to be sure. Hope i was some help, later

yeah, i noticed that, but the thing is, i dont really drive with my music up really loud all the time cause i like to listen to the sounds my car makes. the other thing is, i am kinda on a budget. any other input or suggestions would be appriciated.

Sorry to hijack your thread but did you install the headunit yourself? I also have the Infinity system but my car never came with the stock CD changer. The guy I bought it from had a Sony 10 disc in there but it has since stopped working. My girlfriend's dad works for Sony and can get me a head unit for practically free but I don't wanna pay someone to install it. My question is that since the Infinity system uses that amp under the passenger seat would I have to rewire the whole car in order to use an aftermarket head unit or will those plug in harnesses from the stereo shop work?

I was with Jive when he did this and everything works fine except for the tweeter(front speakers on the dask) I know nothing of DSM wiring(I have an A4) but I would *think* there is a way to bypass the amp to get them to work

yeah, the way that gh0st speaks of is to get two cross overs and wire them to your door speakers and your dash tweeters. this is kinda a pain in the butt though cause the speakers in the dash are hard to get at. im just dealing with no tweeters for now, and i faded the sound a little bit to the back. i do miss my front tweeters though, thats why i want to get the speakers for the doors.

Just thought I would throw in usefull info sense I did mine not to long ago. I replaced all my speakers, and head unit. Re-wire was easy. The amp comes out, and you need about two lenghts of 5ft speaker wire(both driver and passenger side should be equal length). Wire them through the doors under the dash to the head unit. The tweets pop out of the dash, no screws or anything, just put a flat head in and "gently" pop them out. Run new wires (about 3 1/2 feet each) from the stock tweets to the head unit. Splice the driver front door to the driver tweet, and same on the passenger side. Its not the best way to go, it would be a lot better to use a crossover.

If your hookup can get you a sony crossover, that would help from sending base signals to your tweets. Installing the head unit is cake from there.

yeah if your going to have tweeters i would strongly recommend a crossover otherwise you lose most of the benefits

I'm not interested in replacing the speakers, I just need a new radio since I have no CD player. I want to put in a new headunit without having to rewire anything (except for the obvious aforementioned headunit). Is that possible? I saw a cable that would allow me to use my stock amp with an aftermarket headunit but I'd rather just run them off the headunit since it probably has better and cleaner power than the stock amp anyway.

I would rewire them, bypass the amp all together. If you can wire in the head unit, then rewire the speakers is just as easy. Take you about half hour tops...

No it's not quite as easy. I can replace the head unit in about a half hour but pulling out all the seats and pulling up the carpet to run new wire from the head unit to each speaker is taking more time and effort than I care to spend. So in summary does anyone know if I can replace the head unit, bypass the stock amp, in doing do run the stock speakers off the new head unit without a lot of wiring. If not I'll just try to find a stock CD changer and hope it works.

Run the factory amp. You will need to get the wiring harness adaptor. Then you will need to find the remote wire to the amp. Here's how: Take a volt meter and find the wires that have power on them when the key is on. then hook up the aftermarket deck and again check the wires for voltage. The same wires should have voltage. If there is one that doesnt have power that did with the factory deck, that is your remote wire. Hope that helps. If not PM me.

Either there is no possible way for it to be done or you guys just don't get what I'm trying to say. If I wanted to run the factory amp then I would just get this http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PERMITAH

I don't want to use the factory amp, I want to run the stock speakers off the aftermarket head unit's internal amp. However I do not want to have to wire each speaker to the head unit individually. If there is no way to do it then I will just try to find a stock CD changer.
