Does subwoofer/battery placement make a difference?

Ive been thinking alot about where I will put my sub and I was wondering if putting it in the rear of the trunk area would make much difference. Box/sub/amp is probly close to 100+ pounds and where it fits would make about 20 inches difference in placement of the boxes center of gravity.

Just curious what the guru's here think.

The front left corner of your car is technically the heavist part of your car.

Putting your battery in the far rear right corner of your car would help to balance things out. Putting your sub box in the rear of your trunk would be the best course of action.

the other option is to put it towards the middle so its closer to the center of gravity and has less effect.

I'd put the subwoofer right behind the rear seats, over the rear axle. Putting it all the way in the back adds too much to the moment and will make it harder to "save" the car. As to the battery, given the weight of the cables and the PITA factor, I'm very happy with my decision to go with a lawn-mower battery in the stock location.

What are you talking about PITA?

If it takes you more then 30 minutes to do, then you probably aren't mechanically inclined. I've done a few battery relocations on 2gs for friends. Its best to relocate the battery to the rear right corner.

Because you can do it in 30 minutes from finish to end (which I doubt), they are not mechanically inclined? Not everyone here is as mehcanically inclined as you, so please don't put out the impression that a battery relocation job is so simple.
